Very exciting and fun times here in the last year with plumbing issues. I’ve had to hire a restoration company for the kitchen, and now I have learned that there is an underground leak under the foundation of the house where the main line enters from outside to the crawl. There is no water in the crawl, so the leak is subterranean.

I’m making this to see if any of you have any recommendations for plumbers that are quality and not extremely expensive. I realize there’s not going to be any getting away from the expense of having this done, and want it done right above all else. But I don’t want to end up getting stuck for an arm and a leg if I don’t have to.

Any recommendations or words of encouragement appreciated.

Can’t seem to catch a break recently. Unless that break is in my plumbing system, in which case I’m catching a few breaks.

Wish I would have known how bad C-PVC piping can be. I’ve come to find out that my entire neighborhood is notorious for plumbing issues.

I'm always reluctant to make recommendations in case something goes wrong, but we and neighbors have used Forbes Plumbing in the past few years and have been very satisfied with the service. They are a Wilsonville company and have a rep for responding in a timely manner.

Nichols Plumbing Ive used and was very impressed with his service. He's owner operator and reasonable cost too.
I also have the old pvc that will need to be replaced.

Thanks UCD. You’re not the first person to mention them.

I'm poor. Therefore, I can't afford to hire rich people like plumbers to fix my plumbing. I get to do that myself.

I definitely feel that. With a long line of painful stories to back it up. It look hard work, old age and some luck before I could finally afford to hire a plumber. And I still try to do it myself before having to mortgage the rest of my life to get it fixed correctly......

I have neither the knowledge nor the tools to do it myself.

I think I’ve got the willpower, but thinking about DIY a job like this for me doesn’t seem like it would ever be a possibility.

    Respect though.

I've done a ton of plumbing. I can sweat copper with the best of them. I actually enjoy it.

I would recommend indoor plumbing, especially with winter coming.

Update: Forbes is now Henco or something like that, and while I figure it depends on who they send to do service, the two individuals which showed up were fantastic.

Fortunately it was not as bad as the investigator thought it was. Makes me wonder if I could have done it, but the cost wasn’t insane. They didn’t try to BS me or sell me anything more. Just legit took care of the problem and on to the next one.

The main is on and the meter is stopped. A massive sigh of relief.

Water bill was like 3-4x the normal last month. Silent problem… Makes me want to monitor the meter more often myself. But I don’t want to become some loon my neighbors see who checks it every day…

No surprise the plumbers also mentioned the pipings notorious issues.

Thanks again for all of the input.
