I agree. And if Dame and Gobert were close to equal players, I would expect much less in return for Dame for this reason. However, Dame and Gobert are nowhere close in terms of talent, leaderships, etc. So being at or near that level does seem remotely reasonable.

That's not really what the poll question is asking. If rewritten in a non-bias way, the results would likely be different as well.

In general, message boards over value change, youth, hope, etc. It's the backup QB effect, where many NFL fan bases yerns for the backup to get a chance, and are far more optimistic the change will yield better results than it does.

Is it a forgone conclusion we're giving the NYK pick to Chicago?

The Blazers have one of the League's youngest teams already. So technically , they have gone young. Continuing to go young is staying status quo. Trading for veteran help is trying to make the team better.

It seems to make sense. I believe Mike Richman said as much.

Recently Danny Marang says he believes it'll be the 5, 2nd round picks that go to Chicago instead.

Jason Quick said on 1080 The Fan laughed at the idea that the Blazers will want to release pick to Chicago. I believe he said it makes no sense. I'll let others chime in about how clueless that makes him regarding sending out other win-now trade packages.

Yes, their bench is very young. Their starting lineup to start the season, wasn't that young though.

Cronin mentioned in his press conference that they were too inexperienced and that was the cause for them being unable to sustain the impact of the injuries. I got the impression his preference is to add more vet depth, but he noted he'd have to see what is available. Billups seems to echo that desire to have experience.

I believe Dame will be traded because I don't see them getting another all star or close all star player this off season. You can give up your 1st but will that bring back a player that meets that goal I say not. If Portland lucky enough get the number pick you damn well know there not trading that pick. But whoever they get Dame going to have changed his game somewhat to accommodate the other players on the court. Plus your not going win much if you continue to in the bottom part of the league on defense. I just think it's really time to move on from Dame and Dame basically saying it also because anybody that realistic should know that too and I think Dame have came to that conclusion without totally saying it just go ahead and trade me. Dame is top echelon player in this league but with a owner that won't go into luxury tax and your already have your back up to it then that's a big problem to go out there and sign a quality guy.

Sure if they have a trade in place to get a star player for multiple picks then give it to Chicago. But that star player should elevate us and thus the picks may not be higher than 23rd in future drafts. So would the other team prefer that over this year's lottery pick and #23 and matching salaries and a bunch of 2's? I would think that is very debatable.

I think how Chicago has to look at it, is would they rather have (5) second round picks now or possibly have to wait another year or two to receive a pick 15-30. At least thats how Cronin should be pitching it in my opinion.

Now if they say they're fine waiting, but would take #23 this year to release it, that's where your scenario of waiting to see what win-now deals are available. Though, Chicago could up their price the second they hear a win-now deal is in Portland's lap.

    It's a tricky game!

My take on him is that he certainly knows stuff. He also comes off like he thinks he's the smartest guy in the room and wants people to think he's more connected than he is.

I get why people like him or can't stand him.

If Cronin could give the Bulls a bunch of seconds to settle owing them a first, that would be a big deal. Then we would have our pick somewhere 1-9, the 23rd pick, our 2025 first, our 2027 first our 2029 first and swaps in '24, '26, '28 and '30 that could all be moved in a monster deal or multiple deals... that would really be huge.

    Marang doesn't count lol.

And quick is the most unplugged guy now it seems. Lol. He doesn't care about the team and he's said as much lol. He always sounds so bitter.

Agree. It's like Dwight Jaynes. I like him on some stuff, dislike him on others. But he's very knowledgable on Sports and other stuff. The thing that he's done better than some of us, is he gets paid to do what he loves. I'm really good at all around trivia. Especially music, sports, and architecture. But ask me about literature , poetry, auto mechanics or advanced math and i will give you the deer in the headlights look.

I think it's a tricky game but I don't think they could up the price too much because precedence has been set on many occasions that guaranteeing a pick takes a conditional second or just some cash... that would mean just telling them next years pick is unprotected and they get cash or a second rounder protected through the 45th pick or some shit. I think if they start demanding more than what has been set as the market standard they could risk looking like they're acting in bad faith and really do damage to their reputation with other teams around the league.

I would give my opinion, but remember last time he hate-tweeted me, then deleted before I could respond…..then confronted me in the media room the next day. Gonna have to wait til my book comes out for all the juicy details FAMS.
