<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp has revealed his delight at completing a double swoop for David Nugent and John Utaka. The striking duo, who have joined from Preston and Rennes respectively, both penned four-year contracts with the South Coast side on Wednesday. Although Nugent has no previous experience of England's top-flight, Redknapp is backing the ex-Bury man to continue his excellent record at club level. "Will he score goals in the Premier League? I'm sure he will," Redknapp said on Sky Sports News. "I think he's got what it takes to become a top, top player and a top striker. I'm delighted to have him here." Redknapp is also excited by Utaka's acquisition and believes the Nigerian striker will prove an exciting addition to the Premier League. "John's an exciting player and one of many terrific African players," he continued. "We've had plenty of competition from other English clubs, but he's stayed true to his word. "I'm delighted to have the pair of them. I think they're going to give us an awful lot this year. "We may be looking to getting another player in. We're delighted with the business we've done." Nugent explained that once Sunderland had dropped out of the running for his services, it was an easy decision to join Portsmouth. Boyhood fan Nugent conceded he had dreamed of a move to Everton, but insisted he could not put his career on hold until The Toffees came knocking. "There were a few clubs interested, but Sunderland withdrew their bid so Portsmouth were the only club interested so they were the club I was going to join," Nugent stated. "I met Harry and we had a few words together. He impressed me so that's why I joined. "It was a big decision for me to play in the Premiership. It's my career, I had to look after it. "You see the squad, it's full of great names, great signings and I'm looking forward to joining up with them. "(Everton) are my boyhood club, but I'm not going to wait around forever. Portsmouth came in and I'm happy to be here." Fellow signing Utaka revealed new team-mate and international colleague Kanu played a key role in him joining the Fratton Park outfit. "I'm very happy. I've been dreaming of playing in the Premiership for a long time," explained Utaka. "It's been a bit difficult, but finally I'm here. Two things brought me here, the coach and the fans. "I spoke with Kanu and he convinced me to come here. He's also my captain in the national team."</div> "We're all going on a... European tour.."
