Insiders say the Portland Trail Blazers have offered restricted Timberwolves free agent Trenton Hassell a $16 million, four-year deal. The Wolves can match the offer and retain him.

Should the Timberwolves match the offer?

Of course if they dont they do not only lose a great person, but there best defensive player. They can easly match that offer and should since we have no plan b if he signs with them.

Our team held our opponents to two less points per game with him in the startiung swing man spot rather than wally. Then our bench scoring also reseaved a huge boast do to that. We have a oppurtunity to secure a guy who may become a bruce bowen type defensive player possible a defensive player of the year calebure player. He was just recognized by inside stuff as one of the 5 most under rated nba players.

He deserves this if we sign him for this we will be getting him at a bargen price considering what he brings to the table. He is our best perimeter defender and helped us huge in the playoffs guarding peja, kobe, and melo.

This question should not be thought about for more than 10 seconds if you have seen him play for us. We do not get a chance at great defensive players in the nba very often lets not miss out on this one. He is a rare player that is hard to find secure him now and keep the team in tact to take the charge from teams like houston and the lakers. We will need him to guard players like tmac and butler.

What is the problem with the question? I want them to match it. But the Timberwolves might not match because of length and size of the contract. There still is a possibility of them not matching. But I hope they do. It would hurt the team's defense.

Yeah 16 mill is a big contract during the course of 4 years. Though I think we will match since the GM has mentioned thta we have no second plan if he is not resigned. So unless he is resigned we are short a very talented defensive player. Also KG has put in the good word for him like he did for hudson.

It would not just hurt the teams defense, but the whole team overall. Hassell was killer for them. Not just on defense, but when they needed a bucket, he would go and make one. If I'm the T-Wolves, I match it. I understand it's a lot of money but we need Hassell. Our best role player and best defensive player. We've had numerous threads about him naming the stuff he's done. So we need him back.

I think the t-wolves will match because outside of the big 3, Hassell is the most important player to their team concept. If the wolves lose Hassell they are left with 3 poor perimeter defender in Cassell, Hudson, Wally. Hassell pretty much single handly makes up for those guys on defense because he can guard any of their men on defense if they are struggling on D. Hassell brings the balance that this team needs to be effective.
