https://www.google.com/amp/ripcityp...-trade-deadline/amp/?client=ms-android-google February 23, the NBA trade deadline hits and the Blazers have been pretty active under Neil Olshey
Wow. That was...terrible. So we're supposed to give up a 1st round pick just to offload Leonard's contract? Or we're supposed to believe that the Kings would deal WCS for Noah? Or that Dallas wants to deal a now finally fully recovered Wes Matthews for a freshly injured Evan Turner. I know I'm not supposed to waste my time with FanSided, but I just keep making myself suffer.
I would do the 1st trade but I am not giving up a 1st not this year draft maybe a 2nd. I like the expiring contract. 2nd trade I would do that if they also gives us 2nd rounder. The 3rd that not going happen period.
Fansided LOL! Seriously, don't post links to this made up bullshit. If you insist on doing so, please, PLEASE, PLEASE put Fansided in the title so we don't accidentally waste our time clicking on the link. The author has no fucking clue what he's talking about. He's just pissing in the wind. It's another click-bait non-article. I didn't even get past his first trade "scenario". He didn't even bother to look up our cap situation. He thinks if we trade Meyers Leonard for Luis Scola's expiring contact: "He would be a free agent at the end of the year and the Blazers could move on and have a lot more cap space going into free agency. What a fucking idiot. The Blazers, right now, if we don't cut anyone have $142,870,174 on the books for 2017-18. Declining team options for all of Ezeli, Connaughton, and Quarterman gets us down to $129,981,470. That's our current total for all guaranteed contracts. Even if we trade Meyers for Scola and let Scola walk, we'd be at $120,076,975. The projected cap for 2017-18 is $103 million. We're still over $17 million ABOVE the cap and only have 11 players under contract. So, genius, where is all this "cap space going into free agency" coming from? BNM
Must be the only Fansided article you've read. They are all at least this dumb. Anyone who links to that shit should receive a lifetime ban. Especially if you hide the fact that it's a Fansided link. BNM
Lol. No disrespect to BGD, but thanks Plat for saying what I was thinking. I was trying to be polite. Serious question- I'm not really familiar with the RCP fansided. Is this similar to the Blazer Edge fansided? Some of the stuff posted there..... Well, let's just say I've found that they aren't quite up to the quality of the stuff posted and discussed here.....
OK, I just checked and there is a "Bogus!" thread prefix option. Anyone who posts a link to a Fansided article, without including the "Bogus!" thread prefix in the thread title should be banned for life from this forum. There's just no excuse for this shit! BNM
There are over 300 sites that are part of the Bogus! Fansided network. They are all full of click-bait made up nonsense articles, often with links to other Fansided articles to make them seem more legit. BNM
Trades must accomplish one of a couple of things: 1) Concentrate our talent 2) Reduce our cap load Trade 1) Olshey is not going to make a trade that admits he made a mistake. NO has a Philly-esque view of Value. Trade 1 is negative Value. Trade 2) A lateral trade that is roughly cap neutral. WCS hasn't worked out like they hoped, but he has the reputation of being a good defensive player. Biebs for WCS and making them eat the extra salary would be a great move for PDX. For Sac? They get the shooting big man they lack (outside of Cousins). Trade 3) Like it or not, ET is our starting SF moving forward. So, trading our starting SF for a highly overpaid player with a significant injury history is not good. Bogut is old, but has short-term value. He's just not worth this, at all. Power Forward is our biggest need. If we make a bigger-type trade, it should be for a power forward.
