Starting in June 2009, RPP is upgraded to include an estimate for the value of each player's hidden defending. See the User Guide for complete details about this. RPP adjusted for hidden defending is called Total Real Player Production (TRPP). Generally, only TRPP will appear in reports. You must use the User Guide if you want to fully understand the value of the ratings, and also to best determine how you could best use them.
The ratings system exposes Trailblazers shortcomings that are worse in the playoffs than in the regular. Here's a few: --A shortage of good defenders in general and especially a shortage of good man to man/recognition/rotoation defenders. --Without going off the deep end like George Karl, Portland has to put more emphasis into defending. --Greg Oden has not come near to potential. --The only great Portland defensive player, Przybilla, is not a good offensive player at all. --Brandon Roy is kind of close to being, but is not an historic superstar, as Kobe Bryant etc are. --Beyond Roy, Portland needs all of it's players in general to be a little better than they were this year, in order to actually contend to win the West.
