I truly believe Matthews warrants recognition, but this is just for argument's sake of a "big 3" scenario. I included Batum, Lillard and Aldridge. This is great stats fellas. And lets put it into perspective with the Miami Big three of Bosh, LeBron and Wade. Obviously Miami's big 3 is what you would want to model yours after. Aldridge: 22.6 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1 steal, 1 block Batum: 12.9 points, 7.1 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 0.7 steals, 0.6 blocks Lillard: 21.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 0.7 steals, 0.3 blocks Total: 56.6 points, 20.8 rebounds, 14.2 assists, 2.4 steals, 1.9 blocks LBJ: 24.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, 8 assists, 0.7 steals, 0.3 blocks Wade: 20.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 2 steals, 0.7 blocks Bosh: 18.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1 assists, 0.3 steals, 1.5 blocks Total: 63.1 points, 17.1 rebounds, 14.2 assists, 3 steals, 2.5 blocks So from the comparison, we aren't that far off of their big 3. In fact, we are the 2nd most efficient big three in the NBA. Then you add a player like Matthews and we really have a big 4. I like our chances!
All this talk of these players and we still have yet to see our very own first round pick this year. I'm so excited to see CJ and hope he does get some playing time when he gets back.
I think CJ will be stellar considering our style of play. With that said more than anything I hope they don't rush him back.
I just really don't see where we're going to play him though. Our rotation is solid right now. We're playing Mo, Dorrell, Freeland, and Robinson. Where will CJ get minutes?
I don't think there is a rating that could work this way. If you could look it up or have ideas, I would love to see them.
It's on CJ to try to beat out Mo Williams or Matthews in practice. If CJ is as good as we hope, he should have no problem pushing aside Mo. Mo Williams is a good guy to have coming off the bench, but we aren't talking about Manu Ginobili here. If Lillard, Roy, Aldridge or Batum were stuck behind a guy of Mo Williams' quality in their rookie years, there's no doubt in my mind they'd supplant him. If he's not that good, well, he has to wait for an injury to get his chance to shine.
The bummer is, we're starting to develop a real chemistry, and trying to integrate a new guy into the rotation after a month is going to be tricky.
Lets just thank Clippers for thinking Jamal Crawford is an asset. We need that fool's gold to go into effect i the playoffs after we meet them in the second round!
Pippen's averages in PORTLAND: 11.3 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 5 APG, 1.5 SPG, .5 BPG Batum through this season: 12.9 PPG, 7.1 RPG, 6.1 APG, .7 SPG, .6 BPG
It's kind of surprising that Batum doesn't average more steals. He's quick, he has good instincts, and he's long.
This season he has had some bad luck on steals. He has been in great position but the ball just barely gets by him. Idk how many times I've seen it hit his fingertips.
