With all talks of Ewing leaving, JVG hinted that the next tutor for Yao will be a former Rocket. well surprise surprise, Hakeem is in town and was at the Finals game today. Anyway, Hakeem Olajuwon is back from Africa and was there in San Antonio for Game 1. So who do u think the former rocket may be? Drexler, Malone, Mario?
I spoke, or heard Hakeem speak when he first came back to the US. A bunch of guys were surrounding him (I mean teens), and they were talking basketball and what-not. He said he had no real intention of coming back and coaching, when someone asked him if he would coach Yao. He sorta smiled when he said it, and it seems like he's getting involved in the Finals. So, he might've just been toying with us the whole time. On CF, they were talking about Moses coming back, Mario Ellie, I think it might be Rudy or Don Chaney .. just my gut though.
Im not so sure if Hakeem is done studying in Africa. If he is and is looking for a job I would love having Hakeem replace Ewing. I would really love for a big name to come and replace Ewing. But I have a feeling it will be someone we arn't to aware of. That's if Ewing leaves.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting durvasa:</div><div class="quote_post">Former Rocket .... hmmm, methinks it will be Zan Tabak!</div> Haha. I loved that guy's name, what happened to him? Last I heard of him was with the Pacers. As for Hakeem, I'm on the fence about, but Rudy would be great if he prefers to return to Houston as an assistant coach body withstanding. His style is very entertaining and it would be great if Van Gundy would incorporate some of his tactics. With McGrady, we have a very good isolation player, even better than Francis was.
I would love to see hakeem help out yao but i dont think it will ever happen. He seems too busy in his islamic studies. I think he has become really religious now.
Hakeem has done so much for this franchise, and is great but I think the Kareem would be a better coach for Yao. The next best would be Hakeem, I'm not sure if he has good coaching abilities. I know that Kareem has coached many high school Kids all over the world. Yes thats different to coachign NBA players, but its simply a matter of being a good teacher. Plus Kareem's style of play would suit Yao more than Hakeem. Hakeem is still my favourite player of all time though.
Yea I think that Kareem would be much more affective for Yao than Hakeem. Yao's style of play is more like Kareem's than Olajuwan.
