Makes no sense unless Thorn thinks he can make a play for Agent Zero in the offseason.
I wouldn't mind snagging Collins or Balkman, heck maybe David Lee for Carter too. If we got two first round picks as well it would be a steal considering we got Carter for nothing and Mike Miller could fill in.
Thorn and kiki are making good deals but i dont want them to get carried away and the team in really gets stuck trying to score 50 points a game, i mean make the trade for miller and let carter play the season then trade him, but jason williams and ricky come on...........we can do better!!!!!!!!!!!!! look what we go for kidd! but hey what do i know im only in college.

You get 15.76 million dollars in expiring contracts and it isn't like you were going to win a title this season either. The Nets' future looks bright, or at least decent.

Probably has to be done, but it really, really sucks that they are in a position where they have to do it. That contract is BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGHHHH!! WHY DID YOU DO THIS, THORN??!!

They did have to take on Mourning's contract, but that's what the Nets did in Hassell, was about for the same amounts. -Petey
I'm sorry, but unless there is at least one first round pick coming back, this is a RETARDED trade. Where in the hell else are you going to get at least 20/5/5 from a single player, one who's been doing it on one leg most of the season? What is the harm in keeping him the rest of the season, seeing how the new players gel without the cancer of Jason Kidd's attitude, and then shopping Carter over the summer, if that's the best way to proceed? His value can only go up, and I'll bet my last dollar that it will. I expect him to be very motivated and to assume, by default as well as by Frank's intervention, an even bigger role in the offense. He will have to run more pick and rolls and post ups (his least exploited talent this season). His numbers can only go up. This makes no sense whatsoever. If money for 2010 is the consideration, you still have RJ, who will be on the last year of his deal that summer and could be useful in a S&T for that reason.

Anyways I don't see the plus in this for Miami and NY. your bascally trading one overpaid player for another. Instead of wasting that cap space on Curry, Reily should use that money in the off-season.

If you can go back in time and not resign VC to an extension, would you do it? If the answer is no, then you make this trade. You can't be greedy and expect to get an awesome deal every time. Just be happy he's off our books and look ahead.
