The Seattle Sonics are seeking offers for All-Star guard Ray Allen, who's entering the last year of his contract, ESPN's David Aldridge reported Thursday.

How hard are they trying to ship Allen out? I hope we can get an all-star calibre player in return. Otherwise this team will continue stepping backwards.

I really do wonder how hard we are shopping Ray. I've read reports that we're offering to him to every team under the sun, then I read other reports which say he's hired an agent (this is official) and is a better than 50/50 chance to stay.

I can't gauge at all, may just have to wait and see it seems.

I believe he hired two agents just to renegotiate a deal with the Sonics

Doesn't surprise me in the least, he will be a very busy man this summer with the birth of his child and his upcoming marriage. No time to spend weeks negotiating a deal with management.

My gut tells me that the Sonics are content w/ Flip and that he may sign an extension once the Sonics see what they can get in the free agent market. If Flip signs an extension Ray Allen will definitely not resign w/ the Sonics. The Sonics must use Ray as a bargaining chip to get an interior presence.

Ray Allen for Paul Pierce? That would be a good trade except the Sonics already Have Rashard Lewis at the SF spot and if the can move him down to PF then the deal would have some use to bring Flip and Pierce into the starting line.

Don't expect Allen to be shipped anywhere until the trade deadline next season. Odds are, they're gonna try real hard to convince him that the team is headed in the right direction and get him to ink a contract extension. If they don't get it done, he'll be packaged in February to some title or playoff contending team.

Ray Allen + Reggie Evans for Paul Pierce + Michael Stewart (expiring contract)

Vladimir Radmanovic for Chris Wilcox (I don't know if this works under the CBA)

Flip + JJ (expiring contract) for Stromile Swift

Sign Bob Sura with the MLE

    Seattle Sonics starting 5 :

    Luke Ridnour/Antonio Daniels
    Paul Pierce
    Rashard Lewis
    Chris Wilcox
    Stromile Swift

I reckon it's more a case of the team wondering whether or not to ink Ray to the extension that he wants, which is a max deal.

Two deals I have heard are Kittles and Aaron Williams to Seattle for Ray, which makes zero sense to me, and Ray to Toronto, Vince to New York and Kurt Thomas and something to Seattle. This one I don't buy, as it was strongly rumoured that New York offered us Thomas for James and the number 12, just before draft day. Turn that down, but then trade Ray for Kurt Tomas out of desperation? No thanks.

No chance Ray's coming to Toronto.

I agree, I couldn't see him re-signing there after his contract is up, or singing an extension beforehand knowing he was going there, so it seems unlikely.
