Just a quick question, with Houston in need of a bonafide point guard, I ask the question, why not Sam Cassell? He's going to be avaiable, and he shouldn't demand much trade value on the open market because of his age and his production drop off last season. Why not? Afterall he won his rings here in Houston, lets give it another go. Here's two trades that works salary wise between the two teams...

Rockets Trade: PG Mikes James & SG David Wesley
TWolves Trade: PG Sam Cassell & SF Ndudi Ebi

    ---OR---

Rockets Trade: PG Moochie Norris, SG David Wesley, & Future 1st Round Pick
TWolves Trade: PG Sam Cassell & SG Fred Hoiberg

    What does everyone think?

NO! no more "bring Cassell to Houston" threads...it wont happen...Cassell is not the right player for us at this point in his career...he doesnt get others involved; he's subpar defensively; hes a shoot-first/pass-later PG...those are not the characteristics of an JVG PG...a JVG type of PG would be players like Earl Watson, Antonio Daniels, etc...players that can pressure the ball, hit an open shot, dont commit turnovers and can penetrate and get others involved...Cassell can keep his shot-happy self in Minnesota...

The fact is when Cassell is happy, which would have to be determined before trading for him, his game improves greatly. Look at this production the season before last, the guy was one of the top point guards in the league. He was an allstar and he was the big shot player for the T-Wolves, bringing them to the Conference Finals. End of story. He's certainly better than any point guard in Houston currently, and he's only got a year left on his contract if he doesn't work out.

Cassell and Ebi both have ties to Houston, so it could be reasonable that they become Rockets in the future. However, I doubt that the Rockets would be willing to give up a big part of their core for a young, unproven player and a point guard who has an expiring contract and isn't really a big upgrade over Sura. Cassell should not be tops on the Rockets wishlist; and he probably isn't. We should keep it that way.

Cassell is an aging player and I dont think he would be a good solution for Houston. You would be better off with a young Pg.

that trade sucks....I'd take James over Cassell at this point in his career.
