Possible Sign & Trade for DeMarr Johnson

Found this trade nugget reading the Denver Post this morning. Any ideas on who the Warriors might give up to acquire DJ?

That's not what the Warriors need, some weak defending jump shooter who has been sorely underachieving for what 5 years now? We need more guys like Brian Cardinal, scrappers, who will fight for every rebound. We need that urgency from the PG to the Center. Nellie will give the guys a reason to fight, we just need the fighters.

I agree DJ is not that good. About all he can do is dribble the ball around, drunk, take 17-20 footers (but not that well), and run the floor. But with that said, he might even be better than Dunleavy in '05-06 if Dun can't pick up his shot from where he left off in the 2004 season by this season. But Demarr Johnson doesn't even shoot that well or play much defense compared to Dunleavy. I think Dun is the better defender and decision-maker, but DJ has the better athleticism (which can be overrated if guys dont' know how to use their physical gifts to create a mismatch like DJ with his speed/jumping ability and Dun with his 6'10 height)

I'm puzzled to as who could we trade that is under large salary enough to warrant sign and trade? Not Murphy I hope. Dunleavy is BYC. I doubt Denver wants Foyle with their number of big men. It can't be a shooting guard because we need those....

Hmm... I also hope we're not doing some weird trade that mutates into something else. Our player's trade values are not that high after last season... When guys learn to play like a team and put up stats, that's when Mullin will have the best trade leverage if he decides to trade.

For Brian Cardinal/Eduardo Najera fans, let's hope Ike "Big Hustle" Diogu is that guy that never tires and never gives up on plays.

Well, since Johnson will not cost more than MLE (knock on the wood), I don't see any reason for us to sign-and-trade, unless we wish to dump the contract to cut luxury tax as much as possible...

I wouldn't be surprised if this meant the end of Brown and McLeod's brief time searching for houses in the bay area.

I don't know DerMarr Johnson's game. But he has a solid three point shooting percentage at 35.1 for his career. Don Nelson likes runners and shooters. I don't know how much of an athlete he is, but maybe Johnson fits both of those criteria that Nelson likes in players.
