So far the biggest looks like Damp sign and trade. And there's tons of scenarios for that that have been discussed to death. I still think the best is to somehow move Damp, Eschemeyer if we can for those who want him that badly. We'd have to take on some pretty undesirable contracts in return but it would hopefully come off the books by 2006. Personally I think Mullin might just let him walk. You think we could get away with an Atlanta trade that involves one of their players? Maybe Pryzbilla or one of their rookies?

I doubt that anyone would take on Esch, even at $3.1 mil for 2 more years. A year long injury would scare most anyone off. Technically we could trade Damp and Esch for one max player, salary wise. I doubt that any team would do that trade skill-wise, though.

if the Lakers trade with Miami goes through as planned, then i would send Dampier to the Lakers for Lamar Odom.

Well Shaq has reportably "okayed" the trade with the Heat, I guess its all up to the Lakers now.

I love Odom's game but where would he fit in on the Warriors?

Seriously though, would Odom even be an option?

The deal has pretty much a done deal:

Shaq in Miami who would have thunk it? I think Shaq has about two strong seasons left in him before he becomes just another center in the league (injuries will get to him sooner or later).

BTW Odom could always be traded. He's got a lot of value.

    I've always like Odom's game.

I would send Dunleavy to the bench for Odom or Marion.

Has anyone checked the LA board to see if they'd be intersted in a Odom/Damp trade?

We definately wouldn't throw Dunleavy into that deal. We have put too much time into him and he is one of Mullin's favorites.

Would Odom even be able to be traded after just being acquired by the Lakers?

Jrich was the guy we put time into. I don't want to give up Pietrus either. Actually this whole Odom thing is a huge risk if he winds up being more injured than usual.

I just don't see why the Warriors would want Odom...especially with their depth at Odom's positions...

However, perhaps there could be a 3 team deal where Damp ends up in L.A. and Odom is shipped off....

We still have room for another SF. Like walker said, I wouldn't mind seeing Dunleavy come off the bench and having Odom start.

Well, I consider SG and SF interchangable...so Dunleavy, J-rich, Pietrus, and Odom might be considered crowded...

In any case, I hope the Lakers can get Dampier but I doubt it will happen

Odom can play 4 positions in the West, Dunleavy can play 3. I can even see line ups in a few years where the Warriors go small and put Odom at center and Dunleavy at pf.

While I like to think of things in terms of 2 position/3 man rotations its hard to do that with Odom and Dunleavy on the roster. Suffice to say, there would be 152 minutes to divide between Speedy, Richardson, Odom, Pietrus, and Dunleavy at the pg, sg, and sf, which is basically 30 minutes per man. Add to that the fact that Odom could play some minutes at pf, and the fact that Speedy and Odom are injury prone, and there are even more minutes to go around.

I happen to like this roster:

    pg: Claxston, Dunleavy, NVE
    sg: Richardson, Pietrus
    sf: Odom, Dunleavy, Pietrus
    pf: Murphy, Robinson, Biedrins
    c: Foyle, Biedrins, Robinson

If Mullin has confidence that Odom can be a team leader and stay away from the bong, then I think he should pull the trigger.

I think the Lakers would want to part with Caron Butler before they part with Odom. That's just my feeling.

Yeah, but it doesn't work under the cap, and I wouldn't want to trade Damp just to get Butler.

Even if it did work under the cap, I wouldn't even consider the Damp for Butler trade because of the logjam it creates. The only reason why I would consider Odom for Damp is because Odom is so versatile and can play so many positions.

Yeah, I know we wouldn't want Caron Butler but the Lakers would probably see the same use for Odom in his versatility and might refuse to trade him again. I suppose they could run with Deaven George/Butler and Kobe, but I'd think they'd want Odom as part of team Kobe since the guy can pass as well as most point guards. But then again a center is more important because he is responsible for protecting the paint, getting inside points, putting a body on someone, and getting most of the rebounds. If you don't have a middle, you're totally screwed. What will the Lakers do? Personally, if I was a Laker I'd keep Odom because he could figure out a way to get others involved. The center would just have to come from somewhere else. Of course Kobe is now calling the shots, so it wouldn't really matter if I was actually the GM.

I would be ecstatic if we could trade Damp for Odum! I think their salaries are similar too. I would love to see Odum start over Dunleavy. Odum could be the star of our team. He is a walking triple double. And if we apsolutely had to throw in Dunleavy, I would do it without a second thought. Think about it. Basically, the trade is Dunleavy for Odum. Damp is a FA, he is gone if we dont make a trade. I say pull the trigger.
