A friend of mine (we are both U of Utah grads) proposed the follwing bet before the season. Comparing John Beck V Eric Weddle. I said, at the time, it was unlikely Beck would see any playing time<u> unless</u> the season were a totla disaster. Call me Nostradamus.</p> Further, I said it was silly & pretty much impossible to compare a Safety and QB.</p> So, 2 weeks ago. I said that Beck would raise the Lombardi Trophy before Alex Smith. The catch being this is Alex's 3rd season and Beck 1st. If the Niners were to win in AS's 5th year then if the phins won in Beck's 4th yr or sooner, I'd win the bet. In Beck's 5th season, it'd be a push. Otherwise, he'd win.</p> My friend wussed out. Of course, this guy changes his favorite team as often as he changes his infant son's diaper.</p> </p>
