    Winners:

    Cardinals - ESPN had it right. Leinart slipped & the Cards took advantage. After so many poor drafts, Arizona may have finally got it right. They got Matt's teammate & OL protector at college in the 2nd. Pope, Watson & Lewis were all steals.

    Grade = A++

    Eagles - They got steals with 3 of their first 4 picks & filled major needs with every one of them. Chris Gocong was regarded as one of the best small school sleepers prior to the draft. Jason Avant was as sure handed as the #1 WR prospect Jackson at the combine.

    Grade = A+

    Rams - They wisely traded down in the 1st to avoid reaching for a CB. By selecting Wroten & Byrd they may have overlooked the character concerns, but both should contribute right away.

    Grade = A-

    Packers - They vastly improved their D with the selections of Hawk & Hodge. They did the same for the OL with Colledge & Spitz. I also love the pick of Ingle Martin. He was very impressive at the combine. Will Blackmon is a playmaker. Having seen him at BC I think he has an excellent chance to make the team.

    Grade = B+

    Patriots - They may have ignored needs on D, but they did add some serious weapons on offense. Maroney may have been a slight reach, but Chad Jackson was projected to go mid 1st. Selecting back-to-back TEs was odd, but they made up for it on day 2 with Ryan O'Callaghan. Picking a kicker was expected but taking one in the 4th was absurd.

    Grade = B

    Ravens - Haloti Ngata was an obvious choice but a good one. Day 2 is where they really struck gold. Demetrius Williams was a victim of the WR free fall in day one. PJ Daniels is a big back & we all know how the Ravens feel about big backs.

    Grade = B-

    Steelers - Trading up to take the 1st WR was a wise move considering the loss of Randle El. On day 2 they got some 1st day value with the picks of Orien Harris & Omar Jacobs.

    Grade = B-

    Jets - They addressed their biggest need early with D'Brick & Mangold. They manuevered very nicely in round 2 to get the QB they really wanted Kellen Clemens. Leon Washington was a solid pickup on day 2.

    Grade = B-

    Losers:

    Bucs - Clearly they were focused on improving the OL. The value just wasn't there & they would have been better served to trade down. Stovall could turn out to be a steal.

    Grade = D+

    Bills - They had the biggest blunders in the 1st round, but they made up for it some what with the mid round picks of Ashton Youboty & Ko Simpson.

    Grade = D+

    Redskins - Granted they had no 1st round pick, but they gave up way too much to move up for a player that was probably not expected to go that high. I've never heard of the 2nd day prospects they selected.

    Grade = F

    Bears = For all the holes they have on offense to pass on Sinorice Moss twice is inexcusable. Mark Anderson was the only pick on day 2 of any value.

    Grade = F

    Have you seen the kicker the Pats picked kick? He seems to be the real deal to me. He's a big kid with a tremendous leg ... I think he'll change your mind in the long run.

    I saw him on that ESPN College Challenge thing & he was impressive. But I don't think any K is worth that high of a selection.

    I'd give Miami a B-. They filled every need but getting a DE/OLB hybrid.

    Its impossible to determine precisely how these picks will pan out until 2 or 3 years down the road. Though, if last year is any indication then this is another strong draft for Saban.

    It might end up being higher if you figure in Culpepper (2nd) & Lemon (6th) who haven't contributed yet.

    I'd give a "C" for Manny Wright (5th round supplemental draft). He is still a work in progress. The Wright Bros (Manny & Rod) will hopefully be grounding opponents offenses for years to come. Manny might have been a 1st day pick this as should've Rod.

    FWIW, Miami signed DT Steve Fifita from the U of Utah and Gerald Riggs (Tennessee RB) as some of their early UDFA's.

    I'm stoked about Fifita! He's short for a DT (5'11"). Speaking from experience, he has got an attitude & a motor. He IMO is better than Pouha, also from U of Utah, drafted by the jets in the 3rd last year.

    I thought Texans did a good job.

    They picked the right player with the 1st overall pick in Mario Williams, becuase Kubaiak can make a 6th rounder be a 2000 yard rusher so why spend a 1st overall pick on a RB.

    I really liked their 2nd round pick in Demeco Ryans who is going to improve that horrible defense.

    They tremendously helped their o-line with Eric Winston and Charles Spencer. Both will likely start some time this year. They also picked TE Owen Daniels in the 4th who is pretty good

    I thought Jason Allen was a bit of reach given his injury concerns. Hagan could be a solid pick, but he showed poor hands at the Sr Bowl. They did get 2 great finds in the 7th round with Wright & Aromashodu but overall I wasn't impressed.

    I should probably upgrade this to a B+ with the fleecing of the Redskins in round 2.

    that was a sweet trade getting that 2nd rounder and they got their guy anyway (Clemons)'

    i think that the Jets had a great draft i think the front office finally realiezes that to build a winning team u need a great offensive line and thats wat they addressed. Clemons was a great pick IMO i think he can be good and their picks were mostly character guys after that, except for maybe Brad Smith of Missouri. But worth a risk i was really happy with the draft.

    Great thing for patriots is, even though some teams got higher grades, the patriots proved they had better draft [IMG]:P

    I would have rather them draft Jimmy Williams. Williams droped way too far on so called character problems. All he is is confident, which many people in the nfl are.

    The Ravens will get a better grade if the Titans ditch McNair and he comes to Baltimore. Then we would be the winners!
