    One thing I noticed from last night's game was the Thunder routinely had Durant resting on defense by having him "guard" Keith Bogans.

    Result: Durant was kicking ass in the 4th quarter.

    Who were our best offensive players guarding? Well, Deng was guarding Durant most of the night, and mostly I saw Rose guarding Westbrook.

    See what I'm getting at?

    * Good game from Taj!

    * Did anyone else wanna throw something when Korver passed up that shot and generated a 24 second violation near the end of the game? A couple weeks back we were talking about why he might not be a big minute guy... there's a possible answer for ya.

    * Can we have about 10:36 less of Brian Scalabrine on any given night?

    I want more:
    * James Johnson
    * CJ Watson
    * Omer Asik

    I want less:
    * Brian Scalabrine
    * Ronnie Brewer (looks pretty not healthy to me. A guy whose game is dependent on his hops and who can't hop isn't gonna be a huge help until he's right)
    * Keith Bogans

    I'll agree with a lot of your post.

    --I worry that Ronnie Brewer may be permanently injured. He obviously doesn't have his legs under him yet. That would be a rather stunning blow.

    --Thibodeau has to figure out a way to work Korver into the lineup. We need what he can contribute, defense be damned. Korver looked awful last night, and I blame Thibodeau for not allowing him any time to develop comfort with the lineups during preseason.

    --Rose looked god awful. He was jacking up shots like his life depended on it. I hope he's smart enough to see his follies when he looks back over the game tape. You can't have that from a point guard.

    --The team was out of sync, which is fine. It's going to take them some time to figure out their offensive and defensive schemes. None of our offensive sets were working, with a team actually game planning for them. If we are still having these issues two months from now I'm going to slit my wrists.

    --Kurt Thomas looked too old, in a way that he didn't during the preseason. The game is just faster during the regular season. I'm all for eliminating his minutes and giving them to Asik, who is also unprepared but will get better, not worse.

    --Taj brought the fire. Good for him. It'll go a long way in silencing the haters (me).

    --Boozer is going to do all kinds of things for this team once he gets healthy.

    --There was a lot to be pleased about, I think. The Bulls hung with a young contender for three plus quarters, playing in a tough rode venue. Their offensive was bad. Their defense was worse. And outside of Joakim, there were a lot of bad performances. I think there is marked room for growth with this team, even if they will lose a lot early. I still think this is a better place to be than having a team that you know is limited in what it can achieve.

    --I hated the announcing crew. Mark Jackson and Van Gundy sounded under-prepared and uninterested. Jalen Rose, I'm somewhat surprised to say this, did great with pre-game commentary. He really studies the game in the way that the other talking heads don't. He brings his own take, which is based on his own assessment, instead of just repeating what other people say.

    My observations:

    Omer got near zero PT.

    Way too much Bogans - he's a 10th man kind of player, but we knew that when we got him, right?

    Korver and Watson are basically our offense for the 2nd unit. The rest of the guys are below "meh."

    It remains to be seen how Taj plays when he's behind Boozer and Noah and likely to get limited minutes unless we're way ahead or way behind in a game.

    Seems like Deng is a 2 way player, but only a 1 way player on any given night. Last night was disappointing at both ends, likely because he was chasing around Durant at the defensive end (but hardly slowed him down).

    Deng is only as good as our offense, because he doesn't create buckets outside of the system. It is what it is. He'll get better as the team offense improves.

    Part of Deng's issue is that Bogans was pretty useless.

    Thabo (sort of, I would still start Harden) makes sense because he makes the game easier for Durant or Westbrook on the defensive end. He spent time guarding Deng, and he spent a bit of time on Rose. He took the tough assignments.

    Bogans is ostensibly there as our equivalent to Thabo, but he was not really used the same way, and when he was tasked with slowing down Durant, he totally failed. In short, he was a big sucking chest wound.

    So Deng and Rose both had the hardest offensive assignments and largely the hardest defensive assignments despite having a player who played 35 minutes and is there by design to mostly contribute on the defensive side. What use is that guy if he doesn't even guard one of the better opponents?

    Well, his use is coming off the bench in blowouts. Brewer is supposed to be the guy guarding Durant, but he can barely walk.

    2-12 from 3pt. We seriously need a 3pt shooter on the court.

    Agreed, but didn't we sign Kyle Korver for something? And CJ Watson? And we just picked up the option on JJ, who looked pretty solid of late. All of them bring obviously more to the table on offense, and if Bogans isn't going to obviously contribute more on defense (he didn't), then we're better off with one of them.
