<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">FRISCO - Josh Powell didn't know how to react when he heard that he was about to reach his dream of playing in the NBA for the Mavericks.

On the court, it was business as usual for the power forward.

Powell found out Saturday that he was offered a two-year deal with the Mavericks.

He responded with a dominating effort in the final summer-league game for the Mavericks, as they defeated the U.S. Under-21 National Team 102-86 on Sunday at the Deja Blue Arena at Dr Pepper StarCenter in Frisco.

"For me, every time I'm on the floor, it's about business," Powell said.

"Even if I didn't have the contract, I would have still played the same. I just want to approach it and have the attitude to just be consistent."

Powell had 20 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. The exhibition game was part of the opening weekend of the 2005 Global Games, which began on Saturday and end this Saturday.

It was the end of a strong summer league for Powell, which led to the two-year deal, likely to be signed on Thursday, the first day free agents can sign.

This is Powell's third attempt to make an NBA team.

He left North Carolina State after his sophomore year in 2003 and tried out with the Mavs that summer.

Last summer, he tried out with Seattle and Miami.

"It's wonderful," Powell said of landing the deal with the Mavs. "You've been working so hard for two years, and for it to finally happen, it's just a great thing."

Powell set the tone early with his inside presence.</div>
