The Pittsburgh Power proved once again that they are in it to win it with a close 49-47 victory over the Milwaukee Mustangs. This also gives the Power their first division win and improves their record to 2-1 on the season.

Scoring started early as Power QB Kevin McCabe threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Jerome Mathis barely two minutes into the game. They immediately got the ball back after recovering a fumble on the ensuing kickoff. That led the way for Joshua Rue to run in the second TD of the game. After one more TD by the Power, Milwaukee QB Eric Ward threw a 21-yard pass to Dwayne Eley, Jr. to bring the score to 21-7 at the end of the first.

The second quarter started much like the first, with Pittsburgh's Eddie Thompson running in a TD in the first minute of play. The Mustangs battled back and scored 13 unanswered points to bring the game within 8 with less than a minute left in the half. The Power rebounded with 16 seconds left in the half as Thompson got his second TD of the game. Power led 35-20 at the half.

Milwaukee stuck first in the second half on a pass to Damian Harrell from back-up QB RJ Archer. The Power answered quickly, with Joshua Rue rushing for his second of the game. McCabe then connected on a 27-yard TD pass to Lonnell Dewalt. The Mustangs then were able to get back in the game with 15 unanswered points. After an interception by Pittsburgh's Carlos Campbell, it seemed as though the game would swing back into the Power's hands, but the Mustangs weren't done yet. Andre Jones intercepted a pass from McCabe in the end zone, running it all the way back for a TD. The two-point conversion was no good, leaving the Power up by 2 with under one minute to play. The ensuing on-side kick was recovered by the Power to seal the win.

Pittsburgh returns home to host the Tulsa Talons on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at CONSOL Energy Center.
