Pranjic To Stay At Heerenveen

Heerenveen starlet Danijel Pranjic was hoping to leave his current club for a bigger team his excellent performances at the European Championship. However, none of the interested teams made an offer that convinced the Friezen to let him go.

Pranjic was part of the Croatian team that impressed during Euro 2008 and made it to the quarterfinals. His runs down the flanks caused several opponents serious trouble and he even delivered an assist against Germany.

“I’m ready for a bigger team, but Heerenveen have set an asking price that’s too high,” said the 26-year-old on the official Heerenveen website. “But it’s no problem for me to stay here for one more year. Nevertheless, I hope to play for a big team one day.”

Pranjic signed for Heerenveen in 2005 and has made almost 100 appearances for the UEFA Cup hopefuls.

He was linked the likes of Juventus, Portsmouth, Palermo and Manchester City this summer, but the popular player has resigned himself to yet another year in the Eredivisie.
