The Montreal Canadiens have begun selling ahead of the Feb. 27 trade deadline, sending veteran defenseman Hal Gill Friday to the Nashville Predators.

The Canadiens also sent a conditional 2013 fifth-round pick in exchange for Blake Geoffrion, minor league forward Robert Slaney and a 2012 second-round pick in 2012.

Geoffrion, the 23-year-old grandson of Canadiens legend Bernie (Boom Boom) Geoffrion, appeared in 22 games for Nashville this season and had three assists.
