"There was no loud music blaring in the Nashville locker room following Washington's 3-2 overtime victory over the Predators on Saturday. The smiles present during Nashville's three straight wins to start the 2010-11 season were eerily absent.

The Predators (3-0-1) picked up a point, but their inability to close out the Capitals (4-1-0) despite a two-goal lead entering the third period in front of an announced crowd of 16,144 at Bridgestone Arena left something to be desired for Nashville.

"There's no choice but to take (the one point)," Predators forward Joel Ward said. "But at the end of the day, we were up by two, and in the third, that's when you have to put away teams to be a good team in this league. You have to finish off people, and that's what it takes."

Brooks Laich scored the game winner on the power-play with 3:16 remaining in overtime. He deflected a shot by Alex Ovechkin after a strong third period in which the Capitals outshot the Preds 12-8.

"They managed to get back," said rookie goaltender Anders Lindback made 31 saves in his third consecutive start in place of the injured Pekka Rinne. "Obviously they're a good team and I think it was a matter of time. They came at us, and I thought we stood up well, but in the end they got it.""
