Bobby Butler’s tryout for next season’s Predators continues. The forward has another week with Team USA at the IIHF World Championships in Finland and Sweden to show that he has the type of skills that can translate into a roster spot for 2013-14. Butler is a restricted free agent, and the Predators said they haven’t decided if they will bring him back. “They liked how I was playing at the end of the year possibly,” Butler said. “I need to keep playing, keep showing them I can play.” The Predators picked up the 26-year-old Butler off waivers from the New Jersey Devils on March 4. The hope was he could boost the offense at a time when the Predators needed goals. He caught fire at the end of the season. “You just try to have fun and play and enjoy it,” Butler said of the World Championships. “It’s a bigger sheet (of ice), so it’s a little different hockey, but you have a little more time, so you have to have fun with it and stay focused.” The Marlborough, Mass., native got off to a slow start with the Predators, going pointless in his first five games. He had one stretch in late March with four points in three games, but again went pointless in his next five. Butler finished the year on a stronger note, with five points in his last seven games.
