What record do you think the rockets will have next year? I've been bugged with PMs, and ppl asking me, so here it is: I said 54-28, but ill bring it down to 51-31. What seed in playoffs? I say 6, maybe 5. But this could totally screw up for us, I have doubts of us making the play-offs, but i think we can. Starting Line-up: C - Yao PF - Howard SF - J. Jackson SG - McGrady PG - Ollie/Gaines/Lue - I really dunno who. I think the Rockets are gonna make 1 more big trade, i think there will be some small ones, but this one could be big. Reshaping the PG or PF position. Playoff prediction: I dont think we'll get past the first round, i bet we could, but we need atleast a year to gel.
The next season would be a make-or-break one for us. If things gel fast and Yao progresses to be a 20/10 player, we could very well win our divsion. However, if McGrady starts getting selfish and takes 25 shots a game, we might miss the playoffs by a few games.
Here's my predictions for the Rockets: Starting Line-up: PG - Tyron Lue SG - Tracy McGrady SF - Jim Jackson PF - Juan Howard C - Yao Ming I think that their trade with the Rockets will be their biggest trade this year, and the only one. Player Statistics (for only the starting line-ups): Tyron Lue - 9.2 PPG, 5.7 APG, 2.1 SPG Tracy McGrady - 26.8 PPG, 3.1 APG, 6.4 RPG Jim Jackson - 13.2 PPG, 6.1 RPG Juan Howard - 4.6 PPG, 7.8 RPG Yao Ming - 14.4 PPG, 12.2 RPG, 2.4 BPG Team Awards: Team MVP - Tracy McGrady Team MIP - Mike Wilks Breakout Season - Yao Ming Final Predictions I think that the ROckets can go to the Playoffs this year again, but still be in the low seeds, about a 8 this year. Their record will be 46-36, but have a great NBA season.

And how would Yao be breaking out if his scoring goes down by three points? As overrated as Juwan Howard, you must think that he would score more points than Kelvin Cato did.
I don't think Yao will be averaging 12+ rebounds a game, he's not an especially strong rebounder.. Realistically I'd probably say the rebounds will be over 10 but under 11. His scoring I think will stay the same.. maybe around 18-19 per game. T-Mac will score in the low 20's.. and Juwan Howard will probably score in 9-11 points a game. Mostly off double-teams on Yao. T-Mac should be able to set up Yao for easy buckets on his drives to the basket. I think it's great that the Rockets have someone who can break down defenses and score off the dribble.. I think Francis and Mobley settled for wayyy too many jumpers last season. I doubt Lue will score 9ppg, and I don't even think he'll be starting next season. I'm sure the Rox will pick up a higher-profile PG to run the offense. I think Charlie Ward said he would like to sign with the Rockets this season. Prediction: Rockets will struggle at the start of the season and once they get comfortable with each other, will go on a run and finish with 50 wins.
My Prediction: Stats C-Yao Ming: 20ppg, 10rpg, 2bpg PF-Juwan Howard: 11ppg, 8rpg SF-Jim Jackson: 9ppg, 5rpg, 3apg SG-Tracy McGrady: 21ppg, 6rpg, 5apg PG-Flores+Lue+Gaines: 12ppg, 9apg Season Outcome The Rockets would most likely fizzle at the start of the season with the lack of chemistry, but should be gelling around the All-Star break. Realistic regular season prediction would be a 48-win season and third in our division. We would lose in a heartbreaker in the playoffs, most likely a tightly competitive series in 7 games.
It would be wise If you wait till after free-agency to make these team predictions. The Rockets still have their MLE to spend and there are still other possible trades out there. I don't expect Van Gundy to have Lue as his starting point guard when the NBA season starts. Oh and for the record, I will be shocked If Mcgrady averages less than 26 points per game next season.

When he said publicly that he would like to come to Houston, he would certainly have thought about the consquences of playing with another star in the league and the pressure he would have to get that other star involved. I think McGrady has matured a great deal and is rounding into more of a team player.

If Kobe can still put up 26PPG along side Shaq I'm sure Mcgrady will have no problem keeping up his seasons averages. Anything less would be basically mis-using his offensive talents. And who's to say that Yao is ready to become a prime time scorer inside? He might be a year away from averaging around 20/22 a game. So Mcgrady will likely be the main option heading into next season.
In Houston, however, TMac gets help, unlike in Orlando. He can throw the ball in the post to Yao, and on the perimeter to Jim Jackson. This would give him more oportunities to play off the ball and not look to isolate defenders every time, which would also give him less touches and therefore less points.
well.. lets do some quick calculations... Lets say the new improved Rockets are able to score 95 PPG next season.. and lets just say 20 of those points come from the bench.. That means there's 75 points in the starting 5. Let's say Yao scores 19ppg, Howard 11ppg, Jackson 12ppg, and whoever their starting PG is 8ppg, that leaves TMac as scoring 25ppg... That seems conceivable, right? I'd be surprised if the Rockets score 95 a game though, with JVG's style of play which eats up so much shot clock.
