Post your predictions for the highly anticipated rookie season of last year's 12th pick out of Kansas, Nick Collison.

Personally, I think he'll be starting on opening night, lose that job in December but then re-gain it around the time of the All-Star weekend and get stronger as the season comes to a close.

Something like (assuming he plays 82 games):

50 starts at around 25 minutes a game, 8.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, shooting 48% from the field and 63% from the line. He'll play the Rookie game and immediately establish himself as a hard working forward with a good scope for improvement.

45 starts, 10.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, 50% from the field, 50% from the line (yep, he sucks from the charity stripe).

I'm really looking forward to our performance w/ the inside presence of both Collison and Fortson. It also may force the management's hand in regards to the SF position, because Radman will have minimal, if any, minutes available at the 4.

Didn't he play for the USA team a year or two ago?

Yes, he was on the World Championship team. I'm sure he had minimal influence on that debacle, though [IMG]

Well, I like the sound of him being able to shoot around again, and to be in the lineup. I personally know him, and I've been to his games and I've played him and Kirk Hinrich at the Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, and they both pretty much destroyed any hopes I ever had of being a pro player [IMG] but Collison has a great post game. He's not fast, but he has a huge frame, and he'll be able to grab alot of boards this season. Also, for being 6'9" (maybe that, I just know he's a half a foot taller than me), he has a great shot. As far as stats go...

    11.2 PPG, 7.1 RPG, 2.4 APG with 46% FGs, 65% FTs...79 games, 52 starts...

I'm with Supersonic with this one. I think that Nate will hand over the job to Collison w/o him earning it. Collison will play his way out of the line up (or Fortson will play his way into it) and eventually Fortson will have some type of misstep and Collison will be given an opportunity to start again.

I actually like Collison, but after watching the summer league I don't think that he is the same Collison that dominated college basketball. Like any rookie it will take him some time to get adjusted to the NBA.

Stats (assuming he plays 82 games--he's tough so I think he will do it)

9.4 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 2.2 apg (which is excellent for a rookie PF), 45% FG, 61% FT, 36 starts, 25 mpg

I think he will be one of the front runners of the ROY honors, he has been watching the pros up close and some practicing, he has been through a lot of the pro things and will no how to deal with it.
    14ppg
    6.4rpg
    2.1apg
    1.8bpg

I think he's going to have a good rookie campaign. He's has been around the team longer and he played with some of the best players in world last year. So I think he won't have as much of a learning curve as the other rooks(it will still be there though) but I think he will hit the wall earlier than most coming of shoulder surgey. I see Fortson starting about the same amount of games as Collison though.

    10 ppg
    6 rpg
    3 ast
    1 bpg

I'd be satisfied with those numbers.

He'll start all year, barring injury, and have the same stats as Troy Murphy with less rebounding.

14/7 statwise, I think he'll start all year and solidify himself as a starter for years to come.

It'll be tough for him because he missed a year. He'll start out 9/6 and in the last 20 games of the season will be 15/8

but that's a wild guess. I haven't seen him play, except in the NCAA tournament.
