<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Leonard Hamilton started recruiting Montrose Christian Academy's Uche Echefu three years ago. On Monday, the patience and persistence of the Florida State basketball coach paid off.
Echefu, speaking at a press conference in Rockville, Md., announced his intent to play for FSU and cited his lengthy relationship with the Seminoles' coaching staff as a key factor in picking the Seminoles over North Carolina.

It was a blow to the Tar Heels, who lost seven of their top players from the 2005 national championship team and need another big man. UNC made a hard, but late, push to land Echefu, a 6-foot-8, 220-pounder with good leaping ability.

Now it will be difficult for the Tar Heels to find another prospect who can impact the 2005 season.

"There's not a guy who can come in and do what Echefu could have done," said Dave Telep, recruiting analyst for scout.com. "That's why he was so important. There's just not another guy to turn to at this point."</div>

This is a loss here for the Heels, I was looking forward to seeing some highlight reel dunks by this kid because from what I hear he has some great leadping ability. Oh well, just have to move on and scout the prospects that are left.

Damn, Hamilton is one of the most underrated recruiters in the nation! He's building a great basketball program down there. He's luring all this grade A talent is, so its only a matter of time before everything starts to click.
