Allen Iverson may potentially sit out this game, so in order for the 76ers to win they need to find someone who can fill in that void. The 76ers best bet is Kyle Korver. Thus far in the preseason he's proved that he can respond if called upon. However, he is not the type of player that will breakdown a defense and score in bunches. The 76ers are going to need excellent ball movement to try and free him up to get those points.
<ul>Stellar defense. The Knicks have a many scoring options. So it's pretty simple fact that the 76ers are going to need to defend in order to win.
<ul>Dominate the post. With the vacancy in the low post with this 76ers squad the Knicks should exploit that and take it to their advantage. Marbury should have a big game if he wants to and the same goes for Nate Robinson.
<ul>Bench. The Knicks have a stronger bench so again they should look to put that to their advantage. The Knicks are considerably better in that department so they must look to outscore the 76ers bench by at least ten points
<ul>Injuries. The 76ers are a depleted team. Two of the top stars are supposed to MIA in contrary the Knicks have virtually a completely healthy team with the exception of a coup[e players. But in the health standpoint the Knicks are in better condition and they should play like it.
Prediction: I got the Knicks by 11. Even though this is a preseason, the Knicks should win this game, if not, perhaps another long season may be on the horizon.
John Salmons is playing out of his mind the greatest basketball have ever seen him play regular season included. I would not be surprised if he started if he keeps this up. If anyone is watching this game they are seeing the Salmons the 76ers thought they where getting when they drafted him.
Well at the looks of this game according to what you think Avery the Knicks may be in for another long season. The 76ers without three of their most likely to be starters, are dismantiling the KNicks with a twent plus lead at half time. Unless there is a major momentum swing the 76ers will most likely come away from this game with a W. Throughout some of the game the Knicks had their best players on the court when the 76ers had some of their second stringers in and the lead was still maintained. Andre is playing well, he had 12 at the half. John Salmons is having a very good game so far as well with, 19 points at the half. Anytime a team is missing their team leaders, and are capable of playing in such a manner as the 76ers are so far in this game, their confidence is liable to get higher and higher. I can only imagine how this team will be once all their players are healthy. Lets just hope the 76ers are going to stay consistent, and that the Knicks aren't playing really bad but Philly is playing really well.
Salmons played amazing tonight, 30 points, jeez..Iguodala once again played well, Williams played decent, but missed too many free throws, gotta work on that.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">[imgl]http://www.nba.com/media/sixers/iguodala_170_051018.jpg[/imgl]NEW YORK, Oct. 18 (Ticker) -- New York Knicks coach Larry Brown took the night off. So did his team. Showing none of the effort normally associated with Brown's teams, the Knicks suffered a 114-99 exhibition loss to the shorthanded Philadelphia 76ers, who got big games from JohnSalmons and Andre Iguodala. As Brown does every preseason, he skips one game and allows one of his assistants to coach. Tuesday's honor went to Herb Williams, who finished out last season as Knicks coach and probably experienced some flashbacks. The Knicks were porous defensively, allowing the 76ers to shoot 58 percent (23-of-40) from the field and attempt 25 free throws en route to a 66-42 deficit that drew some boos from the crowd at Madison Square Garden. New York's showing was even more embarrassing considering Philadelphia was without injured starters Allen Iverson (sore knee), Chris Webber (strained quadriceps) and Samuel Dalembert (strained quadriceps). In the first half, Salmons scored 19 of his 30 points and Iguodala 12 of his 15 as they took advantage of the available extra shots.</div> <div align="center">Recap | Boxscore | Video Highlights</div> The way the team played without A.I, C-Webb and Sammy it looked as if they can contend for an Eastern Conference Championship. Everything was going for this team that night. John Salmons and Andre Iguodala literally looked like superstars. They were having KG and Duncan like impacts on the game. Now while this was one of those great nights where everything went their way, the way Iguodala and Salmons performed seemed as if they can duplicate that and have similar like performances for a large part of the season. Kevin Ollie impressed me once again and showed me why I think he should get a spot in the rotation. Kyle Korver on the other hand was off, but he certainly has more to his offensive game. He was actually pump faking and posting up and taking fade away shots and to my surprise he actually made some. But as time went on and he failed to at least get a touch on the offensive end and whenever he got the ball he started to catch & shoot like he did last season and the defense picked up on that and he went completely cold. If he wants to be effective for the entire game he needs to get at least one touch on every two positions. Again once he stops getting those touches he tends to catch and shoot and the defense just picks that up and it takes him out of his element.
Salmons was just too hot to handle. It was good finally seeing some Sixers basketball but also seeing some of our new guys and young ones. I like the looks of Deng Gai, he looks like a good backup for C-Webb coming off the bench. I hope Salmons can perform like that during the season. Zumoff made a point last night that this is the season for Salmons to be productive if he`s looking at a longer term with the Sixers.
wow, i turned on to sports center, saw the box score saying salmons with 30 points and my heart jumped out my chest. jk
Those were some good signs by the 76ers, but remember: it's only preseason. Many of the players on Philly just simply outhustled us in search of a contract and a way to feed their families. Thew Knicks who were not coached by Larry Brown, just struggled to get it done. I was impressed with Salmons and Iguodala yesterday. When I was writing up a preview, I saw Salmons lead the 76ers in minutes and assists, so I was expecting something decent from him, but definitely not 30 points. Iguodala improved his range and his defense, as usual, was pretty good. I also noticed he got a couple of new tats!
Iguodala and Salmons, oh baby. Salmons definitely impressed me last night, from what I see from the box score anyway. I mean, I had a feeling he had it in him, but just didn't think it would be would be this momentous. Okay, I'll stop overracting now, I'm going to try to remember its the preseason. Anyways, I hope we can get some of that type of game from Salmons during the regular season- an all around good statline with nice shooting, some rebounds, and some assists. Iguodala meanwhile has obviously improved his game from what I'm hearing from Avery and a look at the stats. Can't wait to see how it translates into the real games.
