Trump’s ‘marching orders’ to the Pentagon: Plan a grand military parade President Trump’s vision of soldiers marching and tanks rolling down the boulevards of Washington is moving closer to reality in the Pentagon and White House, where officials say they have begun to plan a grand military parade later this year showcasing the might of America’s armed forces. Trump has long mused publicly and privately about wanting such a parade, but a Jan. 18 meeting between Trump and top generals in the Pentagon’s tank — a room reserved for top-secret discussions — marked a tipping point, according to two officials briefed on the planning. Surrounded by the military’s highest-ranking officials, including Defense Secretary Jim Mattis and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Joseph F. Dunford Jr., Trump’s seemingly abstract desire for a parade was suddenly heard as a presidential directive, the officials said. “The marching orders were: I want a parade like the one in France,” said a military official who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the planning discussions are supposed to remain confidential. “This is being worked at the highest levels of the military.” Shows of military strength are not typical in the United States — and they don’t come cheap. The cost of shipping Abrams tanks and high-tech hardware to Washington could run in the millions, and military officials said it was unclear how they would pay for it. https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...91602206fb7_story.html?utm_term=.6b8a487493e9
Trump Calls Democrats ‘Treasonous’ for Failing to Applaud Him http://nymag.com/daily/intelligence...re-treasonous-for-failing-to-applaud-him.html
So you're saying he's using his power as President to enact laws that will let him kick his in-laws out of the country, but not to get his wife mad at him? #brilliant
I’ve been a Republican and an Independent. Never been a Democrat or even had the slightest inkling to be one. I supported Bush when it was highly unpopular to do so. I even think a few of the things Trump has on his agenda are in the best interests of the country. All of that said, I cannot believe how childish and thin-skinned he is; or how unable he is to control himself when he feels slighted. When you listen to him talk, I don’t know how you can come away not thinking that he really isn’t very bright. I think the success he’s had is largely attributable to willingness to push ahead and accept risk (often with other people’s money), and being able to hire people who are actually smart enough to take care of the details. I think he won his office because a lot of people were pissed off and willing to listen to his line of bull and promises that he’ll never fulfill. It didn’t hurt that the Dems insisted on running one of the most politically inept candidates in the history of American presidential races. In short, I can’t stand the man and can’t wait until he’s out of office. Three more years is too long to wait.
Ha! You might be right on all counts. But as long as it keeps working, we are better off than before. At least he has not promised me I can keep my health care, when we both know I have already lost it. Yep, you may be right on all accounts but the last one! The wait might be a bit longer.
If his monumental ego actually overcomes the good advice of those telling him not to talk to Mueller, he’s almost certain to end up shooting himself in the foot and getting charged with a felony for lying to the FBI. My bet is on his ego.
