Emo's Laker Analysis

Urgency Style Of Basketball: Previously, in our final road game playing against the Chicago Bulls, our Los Angeles Lakers allowed one of the worst teams in the league to basically stomp all over us in what was simply unacceptable, ridiculous, pathetic Laker basketball. Now the Lakers return home to the Staples Center to face yet again another mediocre opponent, the Golden State Warriors with a poor record of 3-11. The task is simple. LA cannot underestimate these weaker opponents like they always seem to do early in ballgames. Instead, they have to go out for 48 minutes, shoot a better percentage from the field, and play as if they have something to play for, rather than allowing a team to hang around for three quarters, then finally putting them away in the fourth.

Better Shooting Percentages: Just disgraceful to look at our shooting percentage against the Bulls a couple of days ago. Forcing up shots, rushing into their shots, no abilities whatsoever to knock down shots with ease and rhythm, everybody pretty much sucked at Chicago the other night shooting a horrific borderline 41 percent. To make adjustments accordingly tonight, everything comes down to the player that'll get the most touches with the ball, and that's Kobe. In the last three games against New Orleans, Milwaukee, and Chicago, Kobe has been struggling on his shooting and has really been increasing his assist totals to distirbute the ball more rather than trying to do so much all the time. We need that tonight. If Kobe can tone down his struggling shooting touch a bit, and establish better ball movement with his teammates to get them more looks and better shot attempts at the basket, we should improve well in this category.

Rebound Hunger Simply nobody was hungry on the glass against the Bulls because we were simply dominated on the glass by the likes of Tyson Chandler and Eddy Curry. Time to use the athleticisms of Lamar Odom and Chris Mihm to fight like a pack of vicious wolves and get to almost every offense and defensive rebounds. Of course they won't get to every key board, but at least limit the ciritcal second chance opportunities that just plagued us.

Cut Down Turnover Rates Our turnover ratios in the last three games have come down ever so s-l-o-w-l-y from eighteen, sixteen, to thirteen. If we can take better care of the basketball, produce on key possessions, and not make ridiculous plays to hurt ourselves for a chance on a win, then that'll relieve some tremendous stress.

Tenacious Laker Defense We've been doing a good job so far by holding our opponents below 100 points, with a struggling Warrior team coming in, I don't believe we'll have problems in this category. Only laziness without the willingness to put a body on someone should stop us from continuing what will hopefully become a four game accomplishment.

Lamar Odom When will it be time that he'll lead the boxscore as our leading scorer instead of being second fiddle to everything? Hey Lamar, I love the rebounding totals you seem to provide night in and night out, but it's time for you to get on an offensive rampage and bild some confidence for yourself and the team's success instead of relying on Kobe to save us time and time again.

Emo's Laker Prediction 12/03/04

The main concerns to me is can we not underestimate teams with losing records and allow the 3-11 Warriors to hang around in the game for three quarters before pulling away in the fourth? We need to come out with a competitive fire, and just play Laker basketball within our offense instead of having us fans on our heels all the time. We still haven't played our best basketball of the year yet. Throughout the years, the Warriors have always played the Lakers tough, no matter what venue they play in, so I'm going with the Lakers by a close four tonight.

Nice Preview man...

Kobe has always had huge games against the Warriors so I expect no different tonite...I'm hoping the lakers make a more consciencious (sp?) effort to hit the boards tonite, because a guy like Troy Murphy can dominate them as Tyson Chandler did a few days back...With that, I look foward to see if the lakers can bounce back

lakers by 12, 102-90. they lost against the bulls so i hope that they'll do whatever it takes to win tonight. their standing doesn't look good although they're still above .500 -> not enough if your a team from the west.

Like I Said in the Warriors forum, this will be a closely contested game between the Warriors and Lakers.

The Lakers will struggle early on in the game, but will come out with the win in the last quarter.

Lakers 94 Warriors 91

Well i hope they learned from the game against the Bulls. These should be easy games and always a big night for Kobe. He will do well tonight. I think he even will be able to dish out at least 8 assist and score about 25. Alot from the freethrow line.

I think this will be a good night for Butler. He needs to take advantage of the situation.

Lakers by at least 10

I expect Troy Murphy to dominate the boards like Tyson Chandler did a couple of days ago. I still think the Lakers will win, but not by 10 or more.

I expec Jason Richardson to have a big game for some reason. I think that Kobe will have a poor shooting night from the field, but the Lakers will win eventually 98-90 I think it will be a tight game through out until the fourth quarter when the Lakers will pull away. Fisher should have a good game to.

Fisher will have a huge game, and Kobe will continue his struggle with his shooting. I hope i'm wrong but i'm expecting another upset, after how shi... crappy the Lakers played against the Bulls. I take the Warriors by six.

Hopefully i'm wrong.

Lakers will rebound from their tragic lost to the Bulls and win this game by 5. They've had an extra day to rest up and prepare for the Warriors, and the mistakes they made in Chicago should be corrected. I expect the Lakers to grab an early lead, give up half of it in the second quarter, struggle in the third quarter, and then turn it on in the fourth quarter. This is going to be another unnecessary close game, but I'm confident the Lakers won't overlook the Warriors tonight.

So because he's a Laker fan, he can't say the Lakers will lose? I swear, if most Laker fans predictions came true on this forum, the Lakers would be like 14-2.

54-47 Lakers at the half. Murphy was dominating the boards like I thought with 9 already. Kobe made some sick passes but he had way too many turnover's. (5 or something like that)

Well, just looking at stats (since I can't watch the game), I'd like to propose something.

Maybe Rudy T should experiment with this lineup in the next couple of games:

C - Mihm
PF - Cook
SF - Odom
SG - Kobe
PG - Atkins

This will give the Lakers two rebounders for the frontcourt, but also moves Odom down to his natural position, and allows Butler to come off the bench rested, and ready to destroy the other team.

Plus, can someone tell me how these turnovers are racking up on Kobe's statline? Are they bad passes...like, seriously bad...or is it because of the double team, or because the other teammates can't handle a pass?

Hes trying to get veryone else involved which is going to significantly lower his FG% and higher his Turnovers per game ehs basically doing everything and anytihng to get his team the W and he got it doen tonight.

I would just like to see him improve his shot selection and penetrate more he can get layups all day. Ok game i guess ill take the W.

PS: What an ugly Triple Double haha
