"Carey Price said he thought he played better last night but the goaltender also gave a nod to his teammates. "The whole team played better," Price said after the Canadiens beat the Florida Panthers, 6-2 before a supportive sellout crowd at the Bell Centre. There was some boos for the goaltender after he gave up a power-play goal to David Booth early in the first period but they were quickly replaced by chants of "Ca-rey, Ca-rey." Tomas Plekanec, who led the Canadiens with a pair of goals, including a shorthanded effort, said that was the response the Canadiens needed. "We need the fans to cheer for him and help him out," said Plekanec. Price is assured of starting the season as the Canadiens' No. 1 goaltender but he needed a good performance to boost his confidence after surrendering 10 goals on 40 shots in his first twp preseason appearances. Some other players needed good performances to keep their hopes of starting the season in Montreal alive. Lars Eller and Ryan White were given an extra opportunity to show what they can do and they made the most of it." http://www.montrealgazette.com/spor...ns/Price credits teammates/3587813/story.html
