<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">For the past 18 seasons, the Utah Jazz has been a model of consistency. Jerry Sloan faces his biggest challenge this season as Jazz head coach. Behind Karl Malone, John Stockton and Jerry Sloan, the Jazz has been the NBA's metronome, its sunrise, exhibiting professionalism and talent at the same time, making the playoffs every season, going to the Finals twice, placing the Wasatch Mountains on the world map. Now, with both of those future Hall of Famers gone, the Jazz is going to continue its consistency. It is going to be consistently bad. And I don't mean like Los Angeles Clippers bad. I mean like the nine-win Philadelphia 76ers bad.</div> http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/stor...rank&id=1623467
I think the nine win Sixers bad is overexaggerating. They still have Jerry Sloan and some young players who are likley to break out. And as it says, there could be a big trade sometime before the trade deadline. Utah are a stable organization, and they wont struggle for long. They could be back actually competing in the playoffs in less than 3 seasons. They just need a good draft pick or two and a good trade. They did come close to getting good players this offseason(Miller, Terry) and they didn't so their record wont be as good as it could of been. All that means since it they were still unlikely to make the playoffs is that they will get a good draft pick for a change. Affter all, if Utah can get John and Karl with with pick in the mid teens, what could they do with a top 5 pick? There is some light left at the end of the tunnel with this bad offseason, light in the shape of Dwight Howard.
