Prince isn't the player he used to be, but he should still have some value. A good target would be the Blazers. They have already quit on their coach, and after just 5 games they can see their season circling the drain. They also have some half-way decent young players. Dumars could probably con them into over-paying.
Really? I doubt that's the best available offer for Rudy Gay out there, but Detroit would have to throw in picks IMO. So every time a Piston sits out with an injury, are ppl going to speculate they're on the trade block? They did this same story last week when Rip didn't participate in the pre-game shoot around.
Many fans seem to perceive Gay as nothing more than a no conscience gunner, who will never develop an all-around game. I wonder if GMs/coaches agree with that? It seems possible that his bad habits are nothing more than a reflection of the general mess in Memphis.
The knock on Gay has always been a lack of desire to improve. Jim Calhoun had issues with him at UCONN for taking plays off and not focusing on basketball. He said the game came to easy for Gay because of size and athletic ability. He didn't really have to work on his game up until college and a poor work ethic stemmed from it. Joe Dumars has always done well with underachievers and I thought Gay would be an ideal target to replace Prince.
