As I said at the start of the year, the Warriors need a scrapper and the ultimate one available is Nocioni. He's perfect for Nellie ball, a big guy who can shoot and gets tough rebounds.
Yeah -- I'm very, very big on Nocioni -- I can't believe the Bulls let him get away. He was probably their best player at times during the playoffs two seasons ago, and then his minutes dwindled this past year. Hitting the three, taking the charge, getting the tough rebound -- Nocioni does it all, man.
7 million a year average. Hopefully he will be on par with Walton at 5m a year due to his injury plagued year. I think anything over MLE will be the point where the Bulls wouldn't match. I think Nocioni would be looking for a shorter deal so that he can make more money after showing that he's healthy. With this team's young talent, I think that would be just fine. He would play Murphy's role, but with effort. Would play at PF/SF rather than C/PF. Nocioni would also make it more likely that Nellie expects less from Wright at first, which is also important if we don't want him to be judged too early. I could see a sign and trade happen, but would much rather use part of the TE, and let the rest of it expire. We don't need too much more salary, but having Nocioni would help significantly, even if it is a risk with the injury concerns. With our depth, I think we could survive, especially if his contract isn't a burden, even if he doesn't pan out.
I think Nocioni is a world apart from Murphy -- he's tough, physical, aggressive, he's like a Matt Harpring mentality mixed with like a Toni Kucoc game, kinda. I dunno, I'd be thrilled to have him on GS
If the price is right for Nocinoi, then bring him down. I think Matt Barnes is a good consolation prize. I think those two players are quite similar.
that simply makes me laugh.... i dont recall noci pointing fingers at his team mates.... tossing the ball into the stands hot dogging it ..... acting like he is the second coming of Mj.... soft hacking for and ones.... and being the clown intimidator. I think barnes should sign with new york..... whooops done that...lasted six games and gone... how about the clips surely they could ...what? been cut from them..... how about philly.... a young team that ...well damn ..... they cut him too.... ok surely sactown could use a softy like him....no ..... they cut him too..... wow.... something about that attitude seems to rub the wrong way.... barnes is no consolation...he is the booby prize..... please please mully let him walk. When i think of nocioni i think of a hard nosed, fundamentaly sound, human bruise type of player, never afriad of contact with solid range and strong around the hole There is nothing in that description that i see in barnes.... I would say barnes is soft like dunleavy and just like dunleavy occasionally would shine and go strong.

The next closest team is Memphis, but even with that said the Bulls still have the right to match any offer made to Nocioni so unless you arrange a sign and trade there is no way the Warriors are getting Nocioni.

Nocioni is a slightly better shooter, scorer, and rebounder. Barnes has better passing stats, even a much better assist to turnover ratio (Nocinoi is below 1 in that category), he also blocks more shots and gets more steals. Again, I would say Matt Barnes isn't a bad consolation prize compared to Nocioni. Barnes may be slightly more appealing because he can at least survive as a point forward. Nocioni's stats don't say that.

I dont think stats tell the whole story. Barnes is a soft player that gives soft fouls. sometimes i think dunleavy was tougher with his charges he would take though sometimes flopping. If barnes could play without the showboat crap and hot dog plays, he had no business doing that crap which he did everytime he started to see extended minutes. I t may very well be the system, barnes numbers could be worse in chicagos system as noci, i am sure would improve. derek fisher had decent numbers with the warriors but i wouldnt want him running point for a high school girls team. Numbers dont tell all and the demeanor in which barnes played vs nocionni is completely different. I had it with Barnes nonchalance as he hot dogged a rebound that was crucial for us to have a chance to win a game earlier in the year. That was it for me, and as the season progressed he continued to make those kinds of errors. Not stupid errors like soft passes that are telegraphed like ellis would make, but mistakes born on pure arrogance and nonchalance. I watched every game barnes has played as a warrior and the guy has to go, unless he is willing to resign to last year's deal ... which i know is ridiculous, but the only was i would retain him.
Well now that Nocioni is off the table as he is resigning with the Bulls do we go after Milicic with a bit more seriousness?

Matt Barnes was the 3rd or 4th best player on the team in the playoffs. Matt Barnes exceded all expectations when he was filling in for Jason Richardson this season. He was clearly one of the better players on the team last year. He's a good shooter, rebounder, energy guy, and could even play some point forward. I mean he did make his mistakes. But it's not like nobody else on the team makes mistakes. EVERYONE on the Warriors made mistakes, many times much more often than Barnes did. Last season the Warriors/Nelson played Barnes an average of 24 minutes per game. If the Warriors can resign Barnes for a good deal (not starter's or Fisher money) and limit his minutes to around 24, 25 per game then I'd be more than pleased to keep him around, and I'd think most other Warriors fans would be happy with that as well. I know he made dumb turnovers, but he also made many huge shots for this team throughout the season and the playoffs. Even Jason Richardson and Baron Davis have goofed late in games, such as dribbling the ball of a foot or completely falling down while dribbling the ball in the final seconds of a game. By the way, I wouldn't mind to have Fisher on this team. The problem with Derek Fisher was that Mike Montgomery played him too much, especially in favor of Monta Ellis. Also Derek Fisher's contract was a bit too big. But if we are talking about production alone, I wouldn't mind if Fisher and Barnes were on this team, coming off the bench, with contracts that wouldn't hurt the organization's ability to retain the core/key players. Fisher beats-out Sarunas easily.
OMG ..... if fisher returns to the warriors i will never be a fan again. Fisher cant run, cant finish on the break and cant run a fast break...not too mention his piss poor defense..... you can sway me a little on barnes cause i agree he did have moments..... and he did help the team... the thing that i hate about barnes is this...... everyone makes mistakes.....; but it was barnes attitude when he did..... pointing fingers, running over to teammates..... yelling at the refs.... and his hot dogging nonchalant attitude.... for a guy hanging by a thread in this league.... he acted like a jackass on the court.... It is not his production .... it is his demeanor.... i hate cocky players like him that dont have the game to back it up.... i also hate the fact he plays soft much like dunleavy, softest fouls i have ever seen..... the guy is like ice cream on defense... i would much rather see him go somewhere else where i think you would agree he wont match the success he has in this system I fell out of my chair laughing at fisher's agent today stating he wanted above minimum ..... he thinks that is his value as that was what was due him this year.... something like 6.4 mil..... yeah mullin was a sucker then and gave him that contract..... there is not a team in the nba that will give flopper above the minimum.... I just hope he goes back to the lakers where he belongs To me it is a very minor issue if we lose barnes.... it does not impact us very much at all as he is very replaceable.... i would rather keep pietrus..... at least MP has a good attitude and is a joy at times to watch.... I just think we should exhaust all avenues before pursuing barnes or MP..... let him go to dallas.....
