It's been reported by ESPN and the Memphis Commercial Appeal over the past two weeks that they have been in contact with the Blazers recently.

Would would it take for a Conley/Gay package? [/pipe dream]

Lamarcus/Roy and or Oden. Rudy at the very very very least.

You don't think it would have to start with one of the big 3 or Rudy at the very least? To get Gay and Conley that is.

You don't think the Grizz would demand at least Lamarcus or Rudy as part of a trade package to get Rudy Gay (Brandon and Greg are however in another tier of talent)? I'm LMFAO at you now.

i think it was the and/or that screwed everyone up.

i think that is memphis is really pining for outlaw as reported, and the deal is on the table for the blazers (outlaw/conley), then adding rudy, Frye, and say blake, (maybe Martell instead of Frye) might be able to get it done depending on whatever. they have cap space so they can take alot more salary back. not that they want to.

    Rudy/Blake/Frye/Outlaw for Gay/Conley

    conley/sergio/bayless
    Roy/Martell
    Gay/Batum
    LMA/Ike
    Oden/pryz

if KP thinks that Conley is the answer, that gives us one of the best teams in the league.

just say no to gay. inefficient volume shooter who hasn't shown any indication he'll be better than an average defender or rebounder, and who will want a max-ish extension this summer. i would not trade rudy straight up for him (not that he would be available for anything less than aldridge).

I am not sold on the need for Gay on this roster.

What do we need another high volume shooter on the roster for?

We have already seen that he regressed playing next to a good SG that can score (Mayo) - why bother getting him here to play next to Roy, Aldridge and Oden?

Agreed. Him and Kevin Durant are cut from the same cloth: big scorers on bad teams. Neo-Harvey-Grants.

What? Like KP was some sort of trading wuss before? I don't think KP knows any way to trade, but agressive.

Gay is the closest thing Memphis has to a star. I can't see them trading him, why would they? He's still on his rookie contract so he's not costing them a lot. Conley's stock is lower now than it has ever been, we might be able to get him.

They have OJ Mayo who is and will be a much better player than Gay.

    FWIW.

Point taken. I'm thinking that it makes absolutely no sense for Memphis to trade Gay, Gasol.. or Mayo, they are their best players, unless they are getting something better in return. My opinion is that if KP is talking to Memphis, it's about Conley. PG is the position of our biggest need, and Conley's stock is low right now.

I agree. I also do not think Gay is really something we need on this team. It was a FWIW...

Agreed. I like Batum better than Gay for this team. Better defense and less ego, more of a team player... and, we don't know what Batum's ceiling is yet. Hell, he could end up being a superstar if he continues at the pace he going. He's got the tools... and is only 19, wow! Dr. J. anyone?

Yes. IMO. Rudy Gay is the better player, Batum/Webster the better fit.

Or maybe we should just go back to the Whitsitt era motto, "I'm not a chemistry major", stats and resumes are all that matter...

I think that "no" was in reference to my mention of Dr. J. And he's right, Batum will never be in Dr. J's league because he doesn't have the hand and foot size, not able to grip the basketball like a grapefruit... not sure about the leaping ability though.
