Hey guys.... I've been away for awhile but I've been reading and the new guys are laying down some quality posts. Over the past month or so, the knicks front office have come up with many theories as to how to make the team better. Some suggested the interchangable guards theory, the theory which has brought steve francis to New York. Others suggest building around Eddy Curry, a promising big who, with experience, can dominate the offensive low post. I am of the school of thought that suggests building a balanced team based on the inside presence of Eddy Curry or Channing Frye.

New York has one of the most talented rosters in the NBA. The problem is that no one on this team is used to distributing the ball. Our guards like to create their own shot and are not used to moving without the ball. Let me also shoot down the theory of Larry Brown not doing a good job in New York. He has tried to teach playing the right way: Moving and sharing the ball on offense, and solid defense. What I think is happening is that our players are trying to do what Brown says but they are so used to shooting first that they hesitate to pass and turn the ball over. That is not Brown's fault. What I think we need to do is trade either Eddy Curry or Channing Frye and Stephon Marbury or Steve Francis for a PG whose priority it is to feed the post and who can make good decisions in transition. We also need a power forward whose purpose is to grab boards since neither Curry or Frye are good rebounders. A trade I had in mind would involve Knicks getting Reggie Evans and Luke Ridnour.

    - Curry has a good offensive game...... "but", is a lame excuse for a defender, not to mention he has yearly weight problem and a possible life threatening problem with his heart.

    - Marbury, is the apparent franchise player, or so they say. Well he has the name power I guess, "In NY ofcourse". He's a selfish, SG in a PG body and plays horrible defense. Loves to hold onto the ball though

    - Francis, another one of the Marbury type. Same type of players, though Francis is going through a low point in his career and doing even his best things bad.

    etc.................
    --------------------------------------------------------------------

    - Only guy the Knicks can possibly build a team around is Channing Frye. BUT, we might wanna wait and see alittle before throwing the whole future on his hands, but he's the Knicks best chance as of now.

I like the duo of Channing Frye and Eddy Curry. It gives us a nice balance with kind of an inside-outside attack. I wouldn’t want to trade them, but I would be more than happy getting rid of pretty much everyone else.

I think Marbury has become pass-first this season. He’s really looking for the open man now—so much that I get sort of disappointed because we need his scoring ability. He’s only averaging 13.5 shots per game. He didn’t average so little shots since he was with the Timberwolves as a rookie. The Knicks have looked in the post for Curry he’s just been kind of sloppy. Despite being almost seven feet and 300 pounds, he has trouble establishing post position. Once he does get the ball he either a) misses, [IMG] makes c) gets fouled, d) picks up an offensive foul e) gets a three in the key called. Curry is a reliable scorer in terms of field goal percentage and how he gets to the line, but he also picks up fouls way too easily.

I like what Francis has brought to the table though. He doesn’t do anything to help the ball distribution, but he’s giving us a reliable scorer from the backcourt and someone who can penetrate and further break down the defense. Once he adjusts to Brown’s system, I see him getting even more minutes. He, just like many other Knicks are turnover prone, but I think a good part of this is Brown’s inconsistency and the players being unfamiliar with their roles.

The real building blocks of this team are our young guys: Curry, Butler, Frye, Robinson, and Lee. The rookies have some great chemistry together and if they continue to grow like they are showing this season, we should be a solid team in a few years. The only question will be if they’ll stay together or not.

I just feel like, with all these expensive overpaid players ( no disrespect to them, they're obviously talented) they don't bring that hungry agression on the court, like a couple of years ago when we had those scrubs busting their ass.

    I say

Trade everyone except Lee, Woods, Fyre and BUtler

Sign guys who are trying to get into the NBA, and are very desperate to impress Larry Brown, guys who are willing to listen.

and just live of the draft and free agency, Isiah's method isn't going to work. Its only going to get worse and worse each year.
