You know what they say, cheap fast and good isn't a good combo. Well, I just started my attempt.

Now, I must say that fast is being judged on hours worked not the calendar. Calendar time depends on my schedule.

Can't have my daily driver down for long periods and make wife drive me to work so I got a donor car that if I get the title I intend to donate to a veteran group like I did my white one. The white paint on my original door in the pic is just to prevent rust in between metalwork. Not finished. image000000_05.jpg 20180715_063348.jpg
Taking off all my plastic parts such as bumpers on the SVT and swapping the light yellow parts on it so I can still drive. (May have to leave and return home at dark so neighborhood doesn't see it. Gonna be ugly for a while)

So you are going to combine the two cars into some sort of limo?

Those are fun cars to drive...bought my son one in college...he misses driving it but needed an SUV for his kayaks and trips to Bend in the winter

You'd be hard pressed to find a slower car that is more fun to drive. Slowing for corners is recommended but not alwayd required.

The SVT isn't turtle slow as it has a good bit of topend power and a close ratio 6 speed. Torque on the other hand.....think my gramma's singer sewing machine had as much lowend.

    Alright. 5 hours in. 20180715_105053.jpg image000000_07.jpg

Stripped rocker mouldings, side mouldings, mirror covers etc. Stripped the back bumper mostly. Had some pretty bad stress marks and cracked paint. Little bit of benzomatic torch work and some DA sanding and about ready for primer.

I just carted a truck load of parts for that car to the recycle center a couple of months ago...son left them here years ago and never did anything with them after he sold the car...got tired of asking him so I just took care of it...had spare hatchbacks, bumpers, lights, on and on.....still have his old transmission to get rid of as well

Quote you twice cuz I wish!

Also removed core support from donor and swapped it into svt so I can paint the red one the prior owner installed. He could have at least rattle canned it black. So ugly image000000_08.jpg

The cars aren't worth much, especially the non svt cars. I gave the girl 700 for the parts car. Taking the fenders, hood, driver's door and also the dashboard and some interior trim panels. Was from California coast. The parts I need are all in excellent shape minus a tiny bit of damage to the hood and left fender. The interior parts are soft and nice.

My dash has a hole cut in it from original owner and some pry marks where one of the prior owners took out the radio.

@theprunetang I had only texted owner of parts car I bought. Didn't know her race. Decided with wife that 700 bucks was fair for car.

Went to look at it and it was a young black girl. Asked her lowest price she'd take. She said 500 bucks.

Told her I'd decided 700 was fair and gave it to her.

People need to stop justifying why or how we do things. I've been guilty of it in the past. I just think to myself that "life ain't fair BUT I can try to make it as fair as I can"

I don't care that Trump pardoned those ranchers but it has nothing to do with what they did or why. It is only because I don't think it is fair to change anyone's sentence after the fact

I'm not clear on what your project is. I get that you are taking parts off one car and putting them on the other. I'm missing the 'why'. Admittedly I am not much of a motorhead so maybe it is obvious to others.

Body and paint. Can't tear whole car apart and let it sit until I have time to work on it. The bumpers are different than the parts car but they bolt on. I can still drive the car while I fix the original bumpers.

I'm taking front end parts and the driver's door from the parts car.

When all the separate parts are ready to paint I will pull the glass from the main body and paint everything at one time and then reassemble it.

I have about 5 and a half actual hours in it. Keeping a rough record of the time it takes.

What I'm doing would cost many thousands of dollars to pay someone to do.

The car isn't worth much more than that. Only makes sense if I do it myself.

I also will take some interior parts from the donor car as well. Dashboard and some side trims and a rubber seal or two.
