First, I want to say that no matter what KP may have done to be fired, for it to go down the way it did was the most disgusting thing I may have ever witnesses on this team- and I've been following it from day 1. PA and Vulcan are the most classless group of a******* and the sooner he sells the team, the better. There's a right way to handle that type of stuff and a wrong way- PA/Vulcan chose the worst way imaginable.

OK, as for a grade on the draft, I'll give us an incomplete. If I had to assign a grade, I might go with a D, but the final analysis depends on what roster changes we make from now until the season starts. Here are my general thoughts:

Our two biggest needs were back-up center and PG. Our two least needs were SF & SG. So, at the end of the night we picked up 2 SF's (and lost one), 1 SG and 1 PG. We now carry 4 SF's and 4 SG's on the team. In other words, unless we make some wholesale trades, we haven't improved the team at all- just added players to sit on the bench.

    As to the players themselves:

Babbitt- I really like him. He seems to be a good shooter and competitor. But when will he ever play? He comes to the team as either the #3 or 4 SF. That translates into an average of 0-6 mpg for the season on a game by game basis. Also, I'm always a bit leary of drafting players that played against grossly inferior teams and players. Playing in the WAC it's easy to pad your stats against players 3-4" shorter and substantially less athletic than you are. He could very well end up being another Morrison.

Williams- Woohoo!! Another undersized SG. And this one can't shoot to save his life. He has great athleticism, but if he can't 'ball', it's worthless to us. He starts as the #4 SG and may work up to #3. That's a lot of DNP's he gets to pick up.

Johnson- A second team WAC player is a horribly weak conference against grossly inferior competition. Well, what the hell, maybe he can end up being a #2 PG, but I'm not holding my breath.

Gomes- A borderline NBA starting SF. He does nothing special and unless moved along will probably be our #2 SF to start the season.

We also lose Martel. I was his #1 supporter from day 1. I finally have to admit he never panned out to the potential he has. Solid defender, spotty shooter, and never really seemed to learn the NBA offense. He's a great person and I hope the very best for him

Anyway, once all the moves have been made, we'll see how the final analysis shapes up. Overall, unless we move 5 or 6 players, considering the impact these players will have for us, this may be our worst draft in many years.
