I remembered an article a year or so ago discussing how much better Dame and CJ shoot on catch & shoot, compared to pull ups. If this was true, then it would seem like both are better served in a ball movement offense, rather than iso ball. I compared to a couple years ago when there was more passing just for reference. Catch & Shoot 2015-16 Dame 4.4pts/60%eFG; CJ 5.1pts/62%eFG 2017-18 Dame 4.1pts/56%eFG; CJ 4.1pts/60%eFG Pull Up 2015-16 Dame 8.4pts/46%eFG; CJ 8.4pts/50%eFG 2017-18 Dame 8.9pts/50%eFG; CJ 8.9pts/48%eFG 2018 Playoffs C&S Dame 4.3pts/53%eFG; CJ 5.5pts/73%eFG (AFA 9.2pts/72%eFG) PU Dame 5pts/35%eFG; CJ 9.3pts/53%eFG I know it can be harder to get open C&S shots, but >10% difference on average for both Dame and CJ. Wouldn't this indicate we should be passing more and trying to get C&S shots over pull ups? Especially when you have a couple of big men who can pass the ball?
Good digging. Yes, we need to use them off-the-ball as cutters more often. Get them catching the ball where they have a shot or a defender running at them who they can then attack.
Yes. It would be great to see the catch&shoot attempts go up as well as the drives, with the pull up shots going down.
