This is sick. <strike>Billy pACCker</strike>Rafferty is such a dumbshit. He's crying over there in the announcer booth, "Oh my! That is a HORRIBLE CALL! That is bad reffing!" But then they keep replaying it, and Noah clearly hacked the hell out of Landry. And as the replays are being shown, <strike>pACCker</strike>Rafferty is sitting on his fat ass still saying, "SEE, ALL BALL!" Ugh... get new announcers, CBS... this guy is a joke!

Purdue makes a great play, and he yells about the officiating. Then Florida makes a great play and he's still talking about it until their next possesion. He's talking about this team like it's elite, like it's a dynasty. Yeah, they're coming down to the wire with Purdue, a team that got run out of the gym by Michigan, Iowa, and Indiana (by 27 ) the other month. This team would get ripped apart by Michigan State, much less a North Carolina, Georgetown, etc. Seriously though, why does <strike>pACCker</strike>Rafferty have so much pride in UF? Is he a graduate? His voice is welling up with pride everytime they make a basket.
pACCker is actually doing the Wisconsin-UNLV game...but I think you may be talking about Bill Rafftery. And it looks like Florida has got this one wrapped up...

They are going to be a hell of a team in the next comnig years...
I was only able to watch the last 15 mins of the game, since I had to work the baseball game today. We didn't look like we deserved to win the game in the time that I watched and Green really needs to get his head out of his ass if we want to go deep. He had 5 turnovers in the first 31 mins and settled down and played error free the last 9. We really need to run the offense through Noah and Horford every time down the court or Butler is gonna upset us next year. Oh and the announcers were pretty damn bias. Do you really think the Gators aren't an elite team right now? They are 4 games away from being a dynasty. Not everyone is going to talk crap about the Gators like you do. I do agree though that he needed to tone it down a little, but our team is full of household names because of what we did last year, so they know so much about all of our players. Do you really think that Michigan State would be able to not only beat the Gators, but rip them apart? I didn't watch the first 25 mins of this game, so I guess I only saw the "good" stuff by Florida, but what I saw the Boilermakers played very good. They beat Arizona who you are high on pretty easily, so they aren't the same team they were 3 weeks ago and they took Ohio State down to the wire(not as close as the Gators today, but still it was a close game). You do realize that the SEC is currently 7-1(about to be 7-2 when Kansas beats Kentucky) and the Big 10 is 6-4, so you can't use that we play in such a weak conference excuse. Give me a break that Michigan State would RIP US apart, they would be fortunate to even beat us, much less "rip us apart".

It's not a talent thing, it's a style thing, and the Big Ten style of ball is clearly kryptonite to the Gators. Purdue is even like a Big Ten Lite. They're one of the more transition-based Big Ten teams. I'd love to see what the Gators would do against Michigan State just because our defense is so stiffling. While our offense is young and turnover prone, we have the best defense in all of college ball at this point. If Michigan State didn't draw North Carolina in the second round ten minutes from Chapel Hill and with UNC-reffs, they'd still be dancing right now. As for conference vs. conference, records are misleading. Like I said, Michigan State got screwed over with the seeding. They blew out a great Marquette team in the first round but then fell at the last minute to the best team in the nation in what was essentially a home game for them. Then you have Indiana who lost at the last minute to UCLA, in California. Then you have the two weakest links, Purdue and Illinois, showing impressively. Purdue probably shouldn't have even been in the tournament, but they beat Arizona and took you guys down to the wire. Illinois, had it not been for a complete collapse and a bullshit call, would also still be dancing, even though they're the weakest Big Ten team to make the tournament.

We have tended to struggle a little against the slow it down teams, but we don't necessarily always lose to a team like that. We have proven we can beat slow it down type of teams, such as Purdue and Georgetown last year. Gators can win against pretty much any type of team if they are on. Yeah, you are right, we do struggle against Big 10 teams. I don't think you can say that the SEC is not outplaying the Big 10 right now in the tournament. Gators really need to actually start playing. So far we've played 1 half against Jackson State and about 10 minutes against Purdue. I gotta give Jackson State and Purdue some mad props for not letting us get going for that time, but we were make uncharacteristic and unforced turnovers in bunches during that time. It's like this Gator team thinks they just have to show up to win. If they come into next weekend with that same attitude that will be the last weekend that this unit will ever play together, because Butler, UNLV, and Oregon are all capable of beating us. I'm worried about where their heads are at, they just aren't clicking and look like they are just going through the motions. They need to realize that they can lose at any given time if they don't bring it and they have to bring the intensity for an entire game.

They're more or less an entirely freshman team, which was playing their second or third (?) game with Greg Oden, who was completely out of it, having not played organized basketball in about half a year and only having access to one hand. They didn't really start to incorporate Greg Oden into their offense until the Tennessee game, and he was really more of a hinderance than an asset beforehand. By that standard, the Conference USA is equal to the Big Ten. Right? Fair enough. And you guys should definitely get credit for having five teams in the tournament (should have been four) whereas the Big Ten had six, because that's definitely a testimate of your conference's strength. As for tournament success, arguably the two best teams in the tournament are North Carolina and UCLA (who would have been the overall #1 had it not been for the Pac-10 tourny). The middle of the Big Ten had to go up against North Carolina in North Carolina and UCLA in California, and both teams played them right down to the last posession. Not only that, but a strong argument could be made for Michigan State being played right out of that game by the reffs. Then you have the two weakest tourny teams in the Big Ten, Purdue and Illinois. I think this game could of been better if Shakur showed up for the tourney and Arizona was playing Florida I didn't really get to watch this game, but it looks like the Big-10 got no respect all year and are really showing up for this tourney.

Michigan State, Kansas, and UNC are the only two schools that are possible of getting 3 Final 4's in this decade(so far) along with Florida(Florida/UNC has been to 2 so far). Considering UNC missed 2 tournaments in this decade then that would give Florida and Michigan State the advantage(unless UNC wins the title this year). Florida has been in the title game twice which is the most of any team in this decade. We certainly have a claim as one of the best programs of this decade. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Besides, since when is a dynasty measured on a five year basis? If the Gators repeat, they should be considered a dynasty(don't get me wrong, I'm not talking about becoming in the area of the Kentucky's, UNC's, Kansas's in program history because obviously we aren't close). A dynasty in college basketball is way different then a dynasty in the NBA, because of the enormous amount of competition, the amount of strain/luck it takes to win twice and most of the time players leave, unlike the NBA, where you can continue to keep your same team. So yes, I would consider Florida a dynasty if they win the basketball title again this year. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">In terms of overall legacy, Florida doesn't even come close to Indiana, Duke, UCLA, Michigan State, Kentucky, North Carolina, Kansas, etc. Those are dynasties.</div> Well obviously we don't match with them in overall legacies, considering we just basically started playing competitive basketball since 94. Actually it was 2 minutes to go when we took out our guys. Ohio State didn't take out their big guys at all. Seriously WTF do you have with Billy Donovan? He's been pretty classy throughout his coaching career. He is a hard nosed coach that doesn't even really whine at refs like some others. He just gets the job done. He's one of the best coaches in the nation and you don't really hear about him at all. Sometimes I don't really understand not getting the freshman in either, but who are we to second guess what he does. That's selective attention bro. Maybe I've just got way too much time on my hands, but all I hear about when I watch all these ESPN shows every day is how great the SEC is. Skip Bayless was on the other day bitching and moaning about how the Big Ten is slow, boring, and overrated, and how the SEC was the best conference in America. You can't tell me that the Big 11 gets more pub. We've been the national media's doormat ever since our poor showing in last season's tournament, and I'm sure we'll hear the same thing all next season as well after the way Wisky screwed up our conference's image today. (**** you, Bo Ryan!) BTW - No matter how low we sink as a conference, ya'll still have Ole Miss. Hotty Toddy!
I don't think it is possible to say that all you hear about is how great the SEC is when the 5th team that got in got criticized from every media outlet(other than CBS) for getting in. A big time conference that only gets in 4 worthy tournament teams(and you could argue against Kentucky getting in). I don't know which ESPN that you watch, but the only thing they say about the SEC is that we have the Gators. btw, here are some quotes from Purdue players.... The same Purdue players who faced Ohio State, Wisconsin, and MIchigan State Boilermakers guard Chris Kramer predicted UF would repeat. "They have so many key components, and they have so many big guys," he said. "So if anybody gets into foul trouble, they can keep on bringing in big bodies. They've got shooters, and they've got slashers that can finish around the basket. I think they are the favorite." Guard David Teague echoed the expectation. "In my opinion, they took one of their toughest blows of the tournament, as far as a team going at them and playing hard and playing with those guys for 40 minutes," Teague said. "I expect those guys to repeat."

The SEC deserved four teams in the tournament not because they're weak, but rather because they have no depth. The Big Ten has more depth and therefore had more qualified team. You can't look at it as conference vs. conference. You have to look at it as team vs. team, and I wouldn't have taken Arkansas over any of the Big Ten teams that made it, much less a bubble SEC team. Who would you have put in the tournament, Georgia? As for the Boilermakers, wow. What do you expect them to say? I mean, are you that nieve to believe that they'll say, "Meh, we've played better." Of course not. They're not going to downplay an opponent that just ended their season.
I was really high on Purdue and they totally showed up for this game. They played great all the way through but Florida just really turned it up at the end.
