The first GDT film I saw was Mimic, which I didn't hate but didn't like much, either. I was kind of ambivalent to it. I was the same way with Blade 2 until I watched the director's commentary and realized that the parts of the film I didn't enjoy were parts where he made mistakes that he confessed to. I thought more of him after that. He's since grown considerably as a director and been given more creative control over his films. The Hellboy series is really good for comic book movies, easily one of the best franchises going, and Pan's Labyrinth was amazing. I'm looking forward to The Hobbit.
