For what years is the draft pick good for? Is it one where the lakers can choose from in a few years (hopefully by then the heat suck and fall deep into the lottery and can get a high pick) or is the pick for a given year say 2006? Anyone know the exact details?

I think that it is lottery protected for 2006 or something, and then the protection on the pick decreases each year until there is no protection in 2010. Something like that. Also i think the first year is 2006 but i'm not totally sure.

I know that the Pick gets better as the years go on. If the Heat get a high pick next year it doesn't mean it goes to the Lakers. Im not sure of the details, but I believe if the Lakers wait till 2010 they can take any 1st rounder from the HEAT..

they cant just take any pic from the heat.....because if the heat dont have a 2nd round draft pick the year that lakers choose to take the first round pic it would be in violation....each team has to have atleast 1 pic in a draft.....either in 1st round or second round
