I was reading about all the unions workers now out of jobs as they opted to be unemployed rather than the contract offer. Of course, their decision has forced other non union workers out of work against their will at Hostess, but that is not my question. Those actions speak for itself.

Question: Would you opt for losing a well paying job if the company was doing poorly and asked for a 10% pay cut? For example, if you made $80K per year and the company asked you to work for $72K per year for 2 years while they went thru bankruptcy and made necessary business changes to make the company stronger?

Me, I'd keep my job if at all possible- union or not.

the answer depends on alot of things obviously

And, of course, that's true. Mine was a straight up hypothetical question and I was using Hostess as an example that sometimes unions do opt to lose their jobs rather than compromise with the businesses they work at. For me, I was suprised that they would close the business down with their contract refusal.
