Seeing that resigning Camby will more than likely be a major priority is summer, I was wondering...did the Blazers acquire his Bird Rights via the trade w/ the Clips or will we only have the MLE available to offer him since we are going to be over the cap next year?

An Aldridge / Camby / Oden frontcourt with a sprinkle of the Inferno would be sweet.

Also, what would be your guy's idea of a fair offer for Camby. I would guess it would look a lot like the contract the Blazers offered Dre.

Yes, yes they did. The contract he was on was more 3 or more years in totality, and his Bird Rights travel with him to Portland.

really, i could swear we didn't have bird rights. Also those, bird rights, may be removed throughout the league in the new negotiations.

I don't think so, because the new CBA won't be in place this summer when Canby signs his next contract. The current CBA expires after next season.

The current CBA is in effect until the end of next season. We have his Bird rights and nothing will change that.

Camby, that is. Maybe he'll sign it in Canby, though.

Last stop before retirement. Last time I move the family. They want to settle down. Kids in high school. They stayed in Los Angeles. I said often to the LA media I wanted to stay with the Clippers. I'm living in a hotel in Portland. I've already been quoted in the local media about no sex living away from my wife.

Agent called. New York is interested. Lived there before when I played there. Clippers and Lakers showing interest for a reduced salary. Family wants to stay there. Other teams are interested, depending on how much I want. Some are playoff teams, some aren't.

But wait! What about this juicy temptation of staying here in the Far Country! I've always shown a great love for the isolated corner of the nation. With a great winner, might get to 47 wins. That's a .573 team. They can even offer a little more money, to my great reduction in pay! That's all that matters at this stage. Oh, yeah!

I would actually think that money matters most when signing your last deal, especially if you are talking 8-10 mil vs 5mil from the teams you mention. That's a lot of cheddar to leave on the table, and the Blazers will be getting 80% of Joel's contract paid for, so I see them going big on Camby.

Wait...just because his wife is in LA doesn't mean he can't have sex. Why else be rich of you can't bang whenever and who ever you want?

I hope not at Damon S. home, unless Canby is going to rent or buy it. :NOTMARIS:

Maybe PA can buy him a home in a town named for him as an enticement to sign with the Blazers.
