<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Toronto led by nine points at the start of the third, but Boston had cut it to six when Woods was called for two quick fouls in the final two minutes of the quarter. Alston objected by throwing the ball downcourt, resulting in the first technical.

Toronto Raptors coach Sam Mitchell benched Loren Woods and Rafer Alston after each was charged with technical fouls against the Boston Celtics on Friday night, and Alston said he might not want to come back at all.

Alston said he wanted to take some time to think about his career.

"It's tough right now for me," he said. "I'm going to talk to Sam and (general manager Rob Babcock). I think it's time. I'm tired of getting into it with my teammates and my coaches. I don't know if I'm a good fit for this team and I don't know if I'm a good fit for this league.

"I'm going to take some time off. I might not even play the rest of the season."

Mitchell said neither (Skip and Woods) would start Saturday's game against Cleveland, "without a doubt."

"I don't know when they will be back in," the coach said. "We are supposed to be professionals. Nobody has the right to do that in a close game. They embarrassed themselves and the Toronto Raptors."

Yeah I heard those comments. They where crazy to day the least. I dont follow the Raptors like I do some other teams. But all indications to me was Skip was performing pretty well up until the last couple of games, I maybe wrong. But its crazy this year it seems like alot of players are depressed with their situations this year. Not just the normal " I want to be traded" type of bs. But some crazy type of depression type BS. Before Ron Artest brawl, he was even talking about him not being happy & wanting to leave the league. Now Skip & you can even switch sports and look at the Ricky Williams situation. I dont know they dont make athletes like they use too. Alot of cats aint built to handle the pressures of being in the spotlight. I think it has alot to do with being put in these situations so young. But anyway I like Skip and I hope dude clears his head.

He said he might not play anymore. [IMG] trade him to the Lakers for George! he'll be happy with us!

In all seriousness, I wonder why he is so depressed. He was performing so well.

Wow, and I thought things couldn't get any worse then how it already was prior to the game. First the whole Carter fiasco, then our coach losing his mind, then rumours of players being discontent with our coach and now Rafer deciding he doesn't even want to play ball anymore......

So who do you think we should draft with our lottery pick? Should we take Chris Paul to replace Skip at the point or should we a Center like M. Andriuskevicius or Johan Petro?

ya wow, but henacy's right, he played extremely well until the last couple of games. i thought things couldnt get any worse as well but it has. hopefully he thinks about it and forgets all about this taking time off and not being a good fit for the team thing and be happy again.

I would really love for him to get outta that contract and come play for Miami to help us win. I know he loved Miami and had some great moments and we miss him as well. If he does get outta that contract I could see Riley making an attempting at aquiring Skip. I'm sure Skip would love to come back and play with the Diesel and the new look Heat.

Well not everyone is made for the pressures of the league. He might just need some time off. Athletes are normal human beings, and they get a lot more stress than your everyday office working dad (not making fun of them, my dad works on the streets/office). They travel every week and are always around a basketball. Some people just need breaks, let him collect his mind, he just needs some time off or maybe he just needs to be traded...send him to L.A. =)

What's Rafer talking about? Ill advised jacking of three's and perimeter shots? He's a perfect fit for this team

The funny thing is that I was telling my brother before that Rafer drives a fair amount, but man he's a chucker sometimes, and I said he's hitting his shots now, but what happens when his shots stops falling. What happens? He drives less and takes more three's and outside shots while having a lot of 1 for FG and 0 for 3PT games, nice.

He would now, but the reason he came to Toronto is because he loved Toronto also, man the team is just blowing up, time to blockbuster:

Rafer, Vince, Jalen, Moiso for some other players, work a three way, 4 way, whatever, just send everyone out and keep the rest, we need to clear the air, start over, or maybe send MoPete out too.

Yeah he does have history with Toronto as well.

I agree, it's about time the Raptors rebuild. It's turning out to be the next big soap opera after the Lakers and Artest.

this is horrible for the raps...rafer has been unquestionably our best player. he's having a career season...whats going on!?

the raptors franchise is in shambles right now. we got a disgruntled "superstar" a horrible contract in jalen, another horrible contract in alvin williams who isnt even playing. and now our starting point guard who's been our best player wants out of the LEAGUE!? thank god for loren woods play or we'd have no center either

at least we have bosh...someone to build around.

hopefully this is just heat of the moment talk and after some time to sit down with the coach and really reflect he'll reconsider. this is just a mess

Yes cause everyone wants Devean George...anyways...

Okay this is the full scenario, Rafer was coming down the court with the ball and saw Milt ready to check in the game. Rafer already was having a bad game and he came down and took a three-pointer as a last shot for him before he came out.
Sam talked to Rafer, and said that he shouldn't have taken the shot, and the ball just rolled near the raptors bench and Rafer proceeded to picked it up and threw it to the other side. I did not see this while watching the gme on TV. Rafer got t'd up for that.

Then, Loren Woods was yelling at the bench about something, and the ref over-heard and thought that woods was talking to him, so Woods got T'd up even though he shouldn't have because he wasn't talking to the ref.

    Then Sam went crazy [IMG]

guys u know the problem is vince and jalen dividing the locker room against rafer and coach mitchell. its so evident on the court at times, i think us raptor fans need to stand up for rafer, if the raps as whole had 1/10 of his heart the raps would be winners. i was the soothsayer on this forum predicting eminent doom for this team. i think jalen and vince should consider being politicians, cause they are really good at persuading others to do their bidding. rafer is the most politically meek, understandable for a ball player, thats all he is and thats why us legit hoop fans love him. sure he jacks up questionable shots and lets his emotions get the better of him, but he wants to win. Rafer is a paradox, what makes him great at times, makes him horrible at times. nonetheless, i know where is heart is, conversely, vince and jalen like making appearances in music videos.
