"His uncle's No. 76 jersey is available for Stefen Wisniewski if he wants it.

Robert Gallery won't be around to wear it anymore.

But Wisniewski isn't planning to don the 76 worn by his uncle, eight-time Pro Bowl selection Steve Wisniewski.

"Oh, I don't think I can take that one, no," Stefen said. "That's his number. I'll find my own."

But it will be hard for Stefen to escape comparisons with his uncle. Both were All-Americans at Penn State. Both were the first player the Raiders got in a draft in which they lacked a first-round selection.

Stefen was the 16th pick of the second round (48th overall), and Steve came to the Raiders in 1989 as a second-round pick in a trade with Dallas.

Stefen, however, was drafted to play center, while Steve was one of the dominant guards of his era.

Stefen, 6-foot-3, 313 pounds, also will have the chance to become a Pro Bowl player early in his career with Steve watching closely. Steve is an assistant offensive-line coach for the Raiders.

Stefen started at right guard as a senior but spent his junior season playing center. Of his 38 starts, 25 came at right guard.

Raiders coach Hue Jackson said Stefen was drafted to anchor the offensive line.

"Obviously, he needs to come in and earn his stripes, but there's no question that's why we drafted him," Jackson said. "I drafted this young man - our organization did - with the thought that he can go in there and play center the way we want center to be played and be there for a long time.""
