Am I the only one who views this kid as a keeper? Since the beginning of March, and especially the last 3 games, he's been playing GREAT and showing how good he actually is. He's been getting more and more minutes and rightfully so. He's our best defender with TA gone, he's such a good rebounder for his size, and he's got some great point guard skills. My question is, does anyone else view this kid as someone we HAVE to keep on this team for the long run? I think a 3 headed monster of Pierce scoring, Al down low, and Rondo running the point would be fantastic mold for future Celtics rosters, especially given the other guys we have to fill roles.
he's been playing great all seasonwasn't it the first game of the preseason where he got the game tying 3 to send the game to overtime against Toronto? and then the game against the Knicks he got the rebound, put back dunk..then stole the ball..got another basket..got a foul? the guy is only a rookie but he runs the floor like a vet and has great court awareness...he's easily the best defender in his draft class..great rebounding PG as well..if he just had a jump shot and could hit FTs...damn what a playerI wouldn't say he's untouchable but this guy is definitely making a very very strong case for PG of the future..give him 500 shots a day in the summer and maybe next year we see the new jumpshot hitting Rondo
No, you definitely aren't the only one who views him as a keeper. The kid is a special talent, and I am so relieved/excited that we've ACTUALLY found our point guard of the future. Finally! We've been through so many young guards, none have worked out, except Rondo. Rondo just does everything, there is no need to go rambling on about everything he does well, because we all know and it has been said plenty of times. This summer, keeping Pierce/Al/Rondo is a must, the rest can be shopped. Of course, I'd love to keep a lot of these young guys, but I understand we HAVE to deal some. The only two young players Danny should NOT include in trade talks are Big Al and Rondo. I hope TA gets back healthy and eventually gains all his explosiveness back (or most of it, anyway). Could you guys imagine Rondo and TA in the backcourt together? The dual-assassins. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (playaofthegame @ Apr 8 2007, 12:12 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>I wouldn't say he's untouchable but this guy is definitely making a very very strong case for PG of the future..give him 500 shots a day in the summer and maybe next year we see the new jumpshot hitting Rondo</div> Even if Rondo never develops a consistent jumper (although I am hearing that he has been shooting 500 a day), he just does EVERYTHING ELSE so damn well, that I'd want him anyway.

In my opinion he has the talent to one day be a top 10 NBA PG. He does everything except shoot the ball. And even if he ends up never being an above average shooter he's definitely a much more talented version of Eric Snow and he doesn't score/shoot and has been a very valuable player around the league for the last 10 seasons. He's a huge keeper for you guys.

I'm pretty damn sure all us Celtics fans think that we should keep Rondo. He's going to be a top 5 PG in the future.

Seeing as how Conley and Lawson are still in college and haven't even been drafted yet, it's pretty ridiculous to make that assumption. Rajon Rondo is the real deal. If he gains a jumper, no reason why he can't be a top 3 point guard, because he really can do it all.

Don't get ahead of yourselves to call him a top 5 PG in the NBA. He does have that potential, and I think he will fulfill most of that potential, but top 5 is pretty unlikely. I do love the kid (hell, we all do), you all know that, but let's not get carried away here.
The Celtics should definetely keep Rajon Rondo. He has proven this year that in the future he will be putting up statlines similar to Kidd's. (Triple Doubles or close) His ability to rebound at only 6-1 and playing smart basketball at such a young age are very valuable to the Celtics. If he continues to improve at the rate that he is I could see him starting as soon as next year. (Even when the Celtics are healthy)

Well of course he's starting right now with all the injuries but doesn't Delonte West start when Boston is healthy?

Celtics fans are similar to Raptor fans, they think all of their players are studs. Rondo gets too many turnovers to be a top 5 PG.
