When president of basketball operations David Kahn hired Kurt Rambis he said it was important to get input from his head coach. Rambis didn't get hired until late August and wasn't part of the draft and free agent process last year, but he's involved this year.

"I will be very active ... extremely active," Rambis told the Pioneer Press. "I understood there were a lot of business decisions made last year. This year we'll be making personnel decisions, and that's a huge difference."

The Timberwolves are conducting group workouts for draft prospects through Wednesday and then Kahn and Rambis will head to Europe to scout draft picks Ricky Rubio and Nikola Pekovic and to meet Darko Milicic in Serbia-Montenegro to discuss his future with the team.

"The fact that Kurt is coming to Europe with me, I hope it's obvious to everybody how important his voice is in helping me shape this team," Kahn said. "It's more than just a voice. I think of him as a partner in this process."
