I was a smile winner and won a case of pop from the PoppeShoppe! Holler! He also wore a Fonzi button i gave him for a few years on his sweater.
speaking of old school...any of you used to have your b-day parties at Organ Grinder? Fucking loved that place! Tron and Alpine Ski upstairs!
another one of my favorites
I went to the Ramblin' Rod show a couple times. My mom and aunt always talked about how much of an ass he was off air. I guess he was just down right rude and couldn't stand kids. When I was younger my mom used to take us to school everyday and on the ride, my brother always pointed at this big white house on the corner by U of P and said thats Ramblin' Rod's house. I believed him for years until I was about 12 and he told me he made that whole story up. Pretty funny.
I was on the Ramblin' Rod show. Great show, watched religiously. Also, his brother was also my 3rd grade teacher (Mr. Anderson). Oddly enough, Mr. Anderson went to prison for molesting kids. Thinking back I do recall wondering why all the girls got sit on Mr. Anderson's lap.
I hated Ramblin Rod. I was on his very first show. Eddie Bobkins had gone to LA and Dr. Zoom was filling in, doing the afternoon show. Dr. Zoom was popular and gave out lots of cool prizes and stuff. We were all excited and waiting for Dr. Zoom to appear when Rod showed up and was more interested in his hair and camera angles than us kids. All we got was one crappy piece of hard candy from a host who ignored us when the camera was off.
My boys were on Ramblin Rod for their birthdays. I was on Mr. Duffy's Cartoon Circus, if anybody here is old enough to remember him. My mother babysat Dr. Zoom's kids, who lived just down the street. His daughter Krista was a couple years younger than me and a real cutie.
I was on Ramblin Rod, but I didn't win the smiling contest. My parents live somewhat close to his old home, and it always brings a tear to my eye when I drive by. For those who haven't seen it, by the way, it's a gorgeous home with its own runway and airplane hanger, and lots of land. Fantastic view too...gotta be worth at least 1.5-2 million.
