VITALS: 6-3, 190 OVERVIEW: Sessions flirted with withdrawing from the draft after working out at the pre-draft camp in Orlando but decided he created enough buzz around the league to be selected. Nevada will probably regret his decision. The slim guard averaged 12.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists in his junior season - earning All-Western Athletic Conference honors. Sessions also was named a finalist for the Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award. He ranks second in school history in assists (478) and ninth in steals (113). LIKELY DRAFT POSITION: Early second-round pick. COMPARATIVE UPSIDE: Howard Eisley COMPARATIVE DOWNSIDE: Elmer Bennett ROLE PROJECTION: Backup point guard to start with chance to be eventual starter. POSITIVES: Sessions has legitimate point guard traits, including the ability to make plays while committing very few turnovers. He has excellent quickness and can push the ball upcourt and make the right decision about where the ball ends up. He can make the mid-range jumper consistently enough to keep defenses honest, and he can finish around the basket with sneaky strength. Defensively, he is solid and will keep his man in front of him without going for too many steals. He has real leadership qualities. SHORTCOMINGS: Sessions has a flaw in his shooting delivery which, if left uncorrected, will keep him an inconsistent shooter. He tends to spin the ball sideways when he shoots it and as a result his shots must be perfect to stay in the basket. Sessions, while stronger than he looks, is not very tall and will have some problems with bigger guards trying to bump him around. He will have to a quick learner because NBA teams don't have much patience with smallish point guards. He must grasp the nuances of NBA play quickly.
