Rams on a disturbing pace

The lowest scoring team in the era of the 16-game schedule was the 1992 Seattle Seahawks, who scored a paltry 140 points that year. This may be the year they get knocked out of the record books.

Initially, I thought the Bears would provide the competition, but they're an offensive juggernaut compared to some. For the purposes of this post, I thought it would be the Rams giving chase, but as it turns out, the Browns are nipping closer at Kelly Stouffer and Stan Gelbaugh's heels.

The graph above reflects the actual amount of points scored by these teams through three weeks. The '92 Seahawks were at 20 points through three games, the '08 Browns are at 26, and the '08 Rams are at 29.
So at first glance, it might seem like both teams are well ahead of the '92 Seahawks pace, and that the record isn't in danger. But that might not necessarily be true.

That year, through 16 games, the Seahawks averaged 8.75 points per game. The current pace of the Browns is worse than that at 8.67 ppg, and the Rams are giving chase, averaging 9.67 ppg.

I'll keep an eye on it as the season progresses.
