They are thugs and, especially the guy who stomped her when she was down, should do some jail time.

Tensions flare offstage in Paul/Conway Senate debate

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Tensions flared at the senatorial candidates' debate here Monday night in two confrontations between Conway and Paul supporters, Lexington police reported.

The first involved a woman who is a member of www.moveon.org and who was determined to pose in front of Rand Paul holding a sign that read "Rand Paul Republicore: Employee of the Month." According to police, the woman, identified by The Associated Press as Lauren Valle, said she tripped and fell on the ground after someone grabbed her blonde wig off her head.

She was then stepped on by a man wearing a Rand Paul t-shirt. Police say she refused treatment and later filed an assault report. Her identity has not yet been released.

The second occurred after a Conway supporter stepped on the foot of a female Rand supporter, who recently had foot surgery, according to police.

The woman was wearing a surgical boot, but after the injury, her incision was cut open.

Violence has no place in politics. I hope these people are charged with assault.

The stomper, not just a supporter but a county coordinator of the Paul campaign, has demanded the stomped woman apologize to him.

You can't make this stuff up.

He claims he just stepped to hold her, that he could not bend down because of his bad back, and that she was not stomped. Problem is the video clearly shows she was already being held on the ground, clearly shows him bending over her, and clearly shows she was stomped.

There was a huge debate about this on Boston.com. I'm all for Paul's crew detaining this woman as she was apparently yelling and charging the candidate. However, once she's down with a guy on top of her and another stepping on her shin, it gets excessive. The punk who stomps her and appears to knock her out should be prosecuted.

At the same time though, I'm wondering where his security detail was located. He seems to have someone around with him, but why wasn't anyone watching out behind him?

He steps on her shoulder, then pushed down swiftly on it, which drives her head into the pavement.

Yea well that is the mentality of that crowd and what they support. Just remember that when voting.

Here is how she ended up on the ground. She charged Rand Paul's open window, shoved things into the car, and was then taken down. If she pulled that shit with the President, she would be dead. She hit Paul with her sign, and should be charged with assault, IMO.

From that, it appears that its the fault of the host of the debate for not securing the area better. He walks past a roped off area to get in, but the road that they're driving down is wide open? that makes no sense to me. She shouldn't have been allowed to approach the open window like that in the first place.

Either way, the extra foot shove that guy gave while she was down is just excessive.

Depends. What if she was carrying a weapon? She already showed that she had no problem assaulting Rand Paul.

Put it this way. Had she not hit Paul with her sign, she would not have been "attacked" in the first place.

She was going there with the intent to cause trouble.

I'm not denying that she was out of line. However, a lack of security on a few different fronts that seem obvious to me and my complete lack of security experience allowed her to get that close to Rand Paul. There is no reason why she should have been able to get there. At the same time, once she was detained on the ground, she was no longer a threat. I have no problem with her ending up on the ground, its the staffer who came in after and stepped on her that caused an excessive force issue to me.

In other words, the same motive Rand has for running for office?

Sweet! That nerd-boy deserves to catch a curb-stomping. I assume you will be there to defend my actions when it happens - right?

A woman who is assaulted is always asking for it.

    According to some here, anyway.
